Found the thread I wanted to share. My whole life, my mother taught me: "the power is in the people." She was not wrong.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

It’s currently operating totally outside of our constitutional rules. Habeas corpus , due process of law, equal protection, freedom of speech, 4th amendment protections against search and seizure, are all not being enforced in any common sense or meaningful way.

It does make crystal clear ICE are systematically instructed to violate both w/ impunity & dgaf so while we shouldn't concede this authority we need to recognize reality & strategize beyond asking for a warrant

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

Just left messages for Schiff and Padilla and talked to a nice young staffer in Judy Chu’s office. As we’ve seen with Jeffries, these calls are making a difference and we should keep it up. (I say this as someone who HATES making phone calls but hates seeing my neighbors kidnapped even more)

'Why aren't they in the streets' is answered almost every day in my small town by people in the streets! Rather than asking 'why aren't they in the streets' it's worth asking 'why isn't your media showing them in the streets' and 'who is served by downplaying resistane in its myriad forms.'
The idea that there are no protests in the US and no one is standing up to Trump is proving incredibly hard to kill over here in Germany. It’s become dogma, utterly detached from empirical reality.

Just a reminder that with all the stories we're hearing from families impacted by ICE, there are many many more stories you are not hearing because people are literally in hiding and need to keep their stories secret.
