Pope Leo says that American bishops need to be more vocal and support migrant communities from being abducted by ICE in US cities

"Important that we as church give a message of hope in the midst of these horrible struggles, what's going on in some cities in the US"

"The church cannot be silent"

Rhun ap Iorwerth criticises Reform UK's Nathan Gill for taking bribes from Russia to speak anti EU statements

Your reminder that Nathan Gill started out at UKIP, then joined the Brexit party, then joined Reform UK

well said - never thought I'd welcome Michael Heseltine so much!

One significant - & dangerous - thing to watch for is professional commentators objecting to words rather than examining the evidence. It's pearl-clutching & cowardly, obviously, but also a deliberate attempt to avoid confronting exactly what they themselves are facilitating and often cheering on.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

denying all the humanities and her own humanity at the same time

Studying the language and literature that has helped to define our nation at home and around the world for centuries is a "rip-off" apparently

America - you used to be so cool and laid back - what have you done to become so fascistic

that's terrible - and ignorant
iandunt.bsky.social
Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

cultivation of friends with Farage with benefits for the rich etc
- it's not just Labour discredited, Lib Dems and Greens ignored
viviane49.bsky.social
Our media lets us down badly :

Labours accomplishments - rarely mentioned

Nigel Farage’s house - dropped/ignored

Nathan Gill’s admission of working for Russia - zilch

Russia/Iran funding Reform/Farage - silence

Instead they spread lies on the Budget/MPs/anything to discredit Labour

Why????

he's kind of desperate to oust Badenoch - and she defends his racism, imho that's a real mistake.
adambienkov.bsky.social
So to summarise, this is a white politician blaming a black journalist for the racism he is now actively helping to promote, after receiving the full endorsement of his own party leader
bestforbritain.org
Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

JFC the man has not one ounce of shame in him.

He went to private school and Cambridge. He owns three homes and rents a fourth!
jamesdaustin.bsky.social
I know plenty of politicians 'working classify' their backgrounds, but this from Jenrick is taking the piss.

His father's linked in is here: uk.linkedin.com/in/bill-jenr...

He was a managing accountant who ended up as the Managing Director of Cannon Industries

By integrating sharia law into our legal system? Not bothering with democracy?

We must emulate the United Arab Emirates, apparently.

Where to even start...?

Don't forget that 41 Tory MPs in the last government took Russian donations. That might account for media reticence to report on the Nathan Gill case.
