NSF today released instructions for the next round of applicants to its Graduate Research Fellowship Program. A key group—second-year Ph.D. students—is no longer eligible, and students who are still able to apply will face an unusually narrow timeframe. https://scim.ag/3KlQkQk
‘Completely shattered.’ Changes to NSF’s graduate student fellowship spur outcry
The announcement comes months later than usual, leaving many would-be applicants stranded

We served over 151 million (!) free meals to students last year, saving families an average of $1,000 per student.

Students should be able to focus on the classroom, not on where their next meal will come from. We’ve made that a reality in Minnesota.

Really delighted this is out @ ACS Catalysis. The chemistry looks a lot like a job prop I wrote 4 years ago, and we've spent a good chunk of the group's history learning a LOT about Ti photochem. Congrats especially to Jagrut, who defended 2 weeks ago! doi.org/10.1021/acsc...

Excited to be celebrating Prof. Schrock’s birthday at the ACS symposium on C-M multiple bonds!

I’ll try to get to the bottom of the question of “what is the electronic structure of metal-arynes” complete with some new XPS data!
Screenshot of ACS schedule showing the talk at 8:20 am on Tuesday in Room 146C

A long-overdue follow-up (original in 2016) on Ti-catalyzed carboamination: now selective, thanks to Michael and a Ti-iodide catalyst! Out in ACS Catal today. This is a neat one in that selectivity may emerge from a post-catalytic rearrangement of the kinetic product. doi.org/10.1021/acsc...
alkynes undergo Ti-catalyzed carboamination by alkenes/diazenes to selectively yield unsaturated imines through rearrangement of a kinetically formed cyclopropylimine
