We’ve seen where this ends.

The Nazis targeted disabled people.

Those in power rely on society’s fear and misunderstanding of disability.

The truth is there’s nothing to be afraid of.

We aren’t less than. We aren’t “better off dead”.

We’re worth fighting for.

#datalibs #medlibs NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy question - is data that was produced from grants that are now terminated still subject to the original grant terms and conditions?

I don't know the answer to that dilemma, but I enjoy the middle slice where the oranges are both blue and orange.

Mask up, y'all!
The mechanism seems to be that 1) you still have dormant cancer cells (DCCs) when you're in remission, 2) specific T cells keep DCCs dormant, 3) COVID makes those cells not do their job right, & 4) lets the DCCs become active cancer cells and metastasize.

We have agency.
We can speak up. We can show up.

Advocating for cancer care means speaking to legislators, bringing patient stories to the front lines of policymakers, supporting & amplifying each other to continue to do the work that changes outcomes.

Cancer care is in crisis — but I’ve seen what hope can do
“I became a doctor because I lost someone I loved. I stayed because I believe in what we do together,” writes art director turned oncologist Fumiko Chino.

Potentially catastrophic behind-the-scenes news about the Network of the National Library of Medicine (www.nnlm.gov) shared with me today.

While some NNLM host institutions were able to float the offices while funding was paused or delayed in 2025... it is unlikely that happens again.

#medlibs 📚
We are currently in Year 5 of the existing funding cycle. Under typical circumstances, the new RFA would have been released in June; however, it is now anticipated to be issued after the current cycle concludes on April 30, 2026. A "gap year" or a “Year 6” is expected with no additional funding, with the next funding cycle set to begin on May 1, 2027.
During that interim year (May 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027), many, if not all, Regional Medical Libraries and Offices will be closed. As a result, NNLM is not expected to offer funding opportunities, professional development, or related services during this time.

This is incredible. Not only is it beautiful work, it's a reminder that there is no shame in being increasingly disabled as multiple cancers slowly take my health and my life. This, too, is a process. Thank you @philsinabind.bsky.social and @sfdirewolf.bsky.social.

In this video I reflect on the importance of the book on helping me accept my disabled identity whilst showing the process of rebinding the paperback book.

Thank you Alice ( @sfdirewolf.bsky.social ) for creating such an impactful book!

Children have died who have recovered from Cancer, only to be lost to COVID. Same for so many patients. It’s not acceptable that five years on there is no correct PPE in healthcare. No clean air and restricted vaccines. One life isn’t worth less than another and this is dividing families too.
