So, first of all, of course it was Trump.

But even if they were telling the truth, "We give staffers who post videos of the Obamas as apes access to the agenda-setting, decree-sending, market-moving account of the president of the United States" is not the exculpatory statement they think it is.

So, wait a second here.

An unnamed staffer (because of course they're unnamed) is being thrown under the bus, but uh...

Does it bother anyone else that an unnamed staffer has the ability to post to Trump's Truth Social account? Because that seems like a bad idea.

So, was it Trump? Or Miller?

if there’s an athlete with a bunch of MAGA shit on their social media, sure, root for someone else - but most of the athletes are awesome worth rooting for

Chloe Kim is the daughter of an immigrant and turned down a WH invite in Trump 1

my girl Lee Kiefer is a reproductive justice advocate
I get this, but here's where I'm at:

Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hates—first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of color—& I'm gonna root for them.
I really really want these athletes to have a great experience, be competitive and perhaps win a gold medal, but, honestly, the thought of hearing "USA!USA!USA!" during their games kinda makes me cringe. If we were any other country the IOC would ask us to march under the olympic flag.

I'd like to add that like in all industries, when we stop understanding how our tools work, we become entirely dependent on the corporate entities that own the mold. We are trading the ability to build and repair for the convenience of being permanent tenants in someone else's infrastructure/subs.
Vibe coding is working as expected: it'll kill the open-source, secure, and ideologically maintained alternatives to make sure you have to pay the oligarchs to do anything at all, and they can control what you're allowed to make.

it is a belief i have had for years. every time someone goes "you fucking lefties and your purity tests-" the dems could win more without giving me a thing, much as i hate it, if they just put their gobs of consultant money into basic voter organization fundamentals

but they don't do that either!

NEW: Letitia James, the New York attorney general, announced that her office will deploy "legal observers" to document ICE activity in NY.

Her office says the effort is the first of its kind by an AG.

This honestly reads so much less condescending than I expected. She's actually at her wits end and trying her best to plead to multiple audiences at once with this. Very clear she wanted both the judge AND DOJ's attention with this level of clear-eyed anger and sadness.

Great read. An ICE attorney working for DOJ temporarily explains that ICE has no clue how all of this "federal court" stuff works and makes clear that both ICE and DOJ were totally unprepared for the flood of habeases that were the inevitable result of the Minneapolis raids.
