Underground like a wild potatoooo
The same night a bunch of kids threw a punk show in the gym of my old apartment complex because they knew the cops were too busy and they’d get away with it.

Fun show, too.

On two separate occasions I was having such violent night terrors I dislocated my left shoulder.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

CBS News: Dead & Bari’d
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

My MAGA-in-laws were quite sullen that their little granddaughter can’t make her annual visit from France this year, because her mom told them she was “too busy.”

And, since theyre incapable of self-reflection and critical thought, they sincerely believe that’s why.
Right now I wouldn't encourage any non citizen to come to the United States unless absolutely necessary this administration will not welcome you & their is a good chance you'll be harassed or arrested because of how you look or your politics

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

If they vote out of "societal obligation" then they are accountable to the other members of that society for the consequences of their vote.
you can't "hold voters accountable." Ppl vote out of societal obligation, only thing you will accomplish by attempting to shame people for their vote is their reaction of being defensive and rationalizing their vote, when what you are trying to do is show them how their vote conflicts w/their values
To be fair, these are not categorically separate blocs -- "irredeemable bigots" and "extremely uninformed people." The goal of the good-faith people is holding all Trump voters accountable, whether for their bigotry or for their ignorance.

Sure you can! And if they refuse to take a modicum of responsibility and blame their ‘societal obligation’ or other horseshit rationale, you simply remove them from your life.

When asked why, you tell them elections have consequences. They love that line.

Yeah man, other than the global pandemic and the lethal coup to stay in power, it was breezy by comparison.
Yes, and add to that the fact that Trump 1.0 was not nearly as bad as it could have been because Miller and others were stymied on many fronts, further leading to many people thinking the second term would be largely a repeat of the blowhardism of the first term.
I don’t fully understand the way people hold the ideas that the media is a fucking mess and social media algorithms are manipulated in their heads simultaneously with the belief that everyone understood and cosigned Trump’s plans

Canadian bacon, jalapeño, and pineapple? Hell yes.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

See, I think of it more as the year everyone got sick of being force-fed an unending string of shitty products that routinely fail at the simplest tasks and have made much of life demonstrably worse as a result.

It's amazing what happens when you give people the opportunity to form a community rooted in helping others, and how it can create a movement and a sense of belonging that will outlive any campaign cycle.
🧵 Our mutual aid hub has been a HUGE draw for our immense volunteer base, many of whom have never wanted to be involved politics before now.

This model isn’t just about the immediate impacts: It’s about showing our values, building a community, and reaching voters — without selling our soul!
Turning campaigns into mutual aid hubs isn’t good for campaigns or mutual aid! Your campaign manager should be entirely too busy to schlep around 5600 tampons!
