Many of those frustrated by the paywall aren't trying to demand unpaid labor or of the belief that journalists shouldn't be paid. They're upset by how capitalism makes it so access only belongs to those who can afford it, and people can increasingly not afford monthly subscriptions.

All of these bootlegged copies of the 60 Minutes segment flooding my feed (saying, ‘Watch it quick! Before it disappears!’) makes me feel like I’m in the Soviet Union and just got some black market foreign newspaper I need to hide under a floorboard in my house.

This is where America is now

First concerning thought: The US is giving Grok access to Pentagon systems? The exchange unavoidably goes both ways, so they’re handing an Elon Musk company tons of valuable, sensitive data.

Second concerning thought: That already happened with DOGE.
Pentagon taps Musk's xAI to boost sensitive government workflows, support military operations
Pentagon partners with Elon Musk's xAI to deploy Grok AI across military systems, giving 3 million personnel advanced AI tools by 2026 for sensitive tasks.

Part of Trump’s well-known long-standing interest in golden stuff
President Trump will announce on Monday a new type of large warship he is calling “battleships,” marking a step toward achieving the president’s vision for a new “Golden Fleet.”

Biden's labor secretary had a fantastic deal with US Steel and labor unions to build all wind turbines here in the US with unions. That's all out the damned window now.
Burgum on wind energy: "It wasn't even actually green because when you look at the components, the magnets, the blades, everything that goes into building this thing, you can really question whether it was green in the first place"

Every year, we’re reminded of something powerful: community is stronger than crisis. At World Central Kitchen, we see it again and again—when disaster strikes, the very people most impacted are the ones who step up to care for their neighbors. That is the heart of our work. #ChefsForTheWorld (1/2)

The only reason people are still pushing for an Epstein list is because they don’t believe women in the first place.

There’s literally no reason for any of this shit.

MY LATEST: The “60 Minutes” we have known is dead. The fearless program that many of us grew up with was strangled by corporate titans seeking favor with the Trump White House. I don’t know what is next for the storied franchise, but it will never be the same. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/60-m...

Looking forward to Nancy Mace’s condemnation of these men in a women’s bathroom.
ICE agents illegally break into a woman's bathroom in a NY nutrition bar manufacturing plant. "Pull up your pants," says a male agent. The agents only had a warrant to review employer documents. They didn't have a warrant to search for, detain, or arrest anyone there.

Modern warships are designed to avoid detection, not for the ostentation. Vlad would just love the enhanced radar profiles.

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

If refusing to comment is enough to kill a story, then the government now has veto power over journalism.
That’s what CBS normalized last night — and it should scare everyone.
