In no way should we consider Wiles to be an "old school" or "normie" Republican of nostalgic memory. Such an idealized "old school" figure (like maybe Jim Baker, for whom she worked in the 80s?) would have met a President who thinks he can do whatever the fuck he wants & slapped him upside the head.

The Entry-Level Hiring Process Is Breaking Down
Grade inflation and the rise of AI are making it impossible for employers to evaluate recent graduates.

Which means putting us on track for it to happen again is just fine with them, if they can make enough in the bubble runup.
Bessent: "These 2008, 2009, 2010 financial rules were too tight. They hamstrung the American financial system. It was time for a change ... we have to take the financial system out of this straitjacket ... the regulated system is too constrained."

Heard a 40ish guy at the gym saying he was laid off from a nonprofit PR job in 2021 and hadn't worked since except for his lawyer father's firm. Blamed COVID for wrecking his career.

If you work in nonprofit PR in the DC area and can't get another job, that's on you, not mysterious outside forces.
A ten-zillion word complaint from a ticket scalper complaining that he’s not especially good at writing and is being treated accordingly? Ok, buddy
One problem with this take is the number of high profile white millennial men in the media...

Incompetent twits:

“The One Big Beautiful Bill Republicans passed in July is in danger of becoming the only big bill the GOP enacts. Ever since moving the sweeping legislation to cut taxes and reduce spending, House Republicans have been largely stifled by paralysis and infighting."

Apart from spearing the defenseless receiver helmet to helmet? What BS. This is just a coach who wants his players to play dirty if they can knock an opponent out of the game.

Hope this asshole is suspended for the Dallas game on Sunday.

Merriam-Webster declared “slop” its 2025 word of the year.

Slop is now defined as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence.” The word was previously used as “product of little value” or “food waste fed to animals.”

All of it...the "shithole countries" stuff, the racial profiling/mass deportation stuff, the racist and transphobic purges of the military, the willingness to stoke political violence to protect white supremacy, the Camp of the Saints immigration policy...it was all there to see in Dec 2015.

The ravenous, all-consuming narcissism that has rotted the mind of this man requires that every event, every tragedy, every circumstance be ultimately about him. Others in the world do not exist as fully human; they operate only to validate Donald Trump. This is a gross display of mental illness.
Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer were murdered. This is how Trump decided to respond.

Understatement of the year:

“Given his famous unmanageability, it may be vain for Trump’s advisers to urge him to admit some shortcomings in his policies and show some empathy for those who believe they are suffering"

The only possible positive note left in this season would be JJ announcing his retirement from the GM job.

Literally nothing else makes a difference.
Obviously a win on Sunday night would not have guaranteed anything for the Cowboys, but it would have kept hope alive. It could have been the first step towards ending the season on a positive note.

They didn’t even come close to doing that, and that’s a huge bummer.

People are slowly catching on, but multimillion dollar industries have way too much clout to reverse once they get their hooks into the media and political world.

No sports media outlet wants to lose that sweet gusher of ad cash.

FAFO MAGA morons

Tax prosecutions plunge as Trump shifts crime-fighting efforts: Federal tax prosecutions fell to their lowest level in decades this year, declining more than 27% from the year before as the Trump administration cut the ranks of attorneys and agents who pursue those cases.

The insane American gun cult.

At least two Brown University students on campus when a deadly shooting unfolded on Saturday had survived school shootings before. The shooting damaged a sense of security they cultivated for years based on the idea they were unlikely to witness two in one lifetime.

The Republicans who immediately politicized Charlie Kirk’s murder to silent dissent are going to demand we not “politicize” this shooting to … silent dissent.

Do not be silent. Do not accept “thoughts and prayers,” unless the thoughts are policy proposals to stop being the only place that does this
There were some Michigan State shooting survivors who had also experienced a mass shooting at Oxford High School. Tragically, seems it’s becoming more common.
