What happened to us, man? There was a time we’d get called in to murder a whole generation or knock a dragon into Hell; we had to walk into every room saying, “Be not afraid,” else people’d lose their minds in terror. Now - now we cradle the buttocks of those who have to sit for too long.

It sucks to suck. And most of us, when we start something, we suck. And those of us with a strong capacity for growth (i.e. taste and the ability to, so far as we're able, qualify quality) are often the most keenly aware of just how MUCH we suck. And that sucks.

I do actually have a podcast that goes beyond the story contest. It's just kinda been dead for a year.

But I'm trying to bring it back. ;)

Starting with some weird Xmas Baking and Linda Raedisch whose Secret History of Christmas Baking is awesome.

I believe when people say, “Christmas Movie,” what they actually mean, without realizing, is “Only At Christmas Movie.”
You can watch Die Hard any time of the year, but it raises eyebrows if you’re putting on Ernest Saves Christmas before November.

Disabled people do not owe you their medical history.

They do not owe you their diagnosis.

They do not owe you an explanation.

Benefits are exceedingly hard to get and the process is punishing & dehumanizing.

No one is doing it for fun.

(And I wish I didn't have to say this, but I do: donating does not influence me to favor your story at all. I and my crew read them without names attached.)

Hey, if you used to have Harry Potter soundtrack music on your holiday playlist because it fits that vibe so well, but now it makes you feel mighty icky, might I suggest grabbing some tracks from Williams' similar soundtrack for HOOK, especially "The Never-Feast"?

I can’t tell if that much forethought went into this policy change, or if reverting to the initial 1965 list of degrees was just the most expedient way to cut spending tax payers’ money on the tax paying public.

That was the first thing that was pointed out to me; the next was that the omission of “educator,” could likely result in fewer teachers, and that lines up with this administration’s stated goals of dismantling public education.

In "Peanuts," Lucy first yanked the football away from Charlie Brown on November 16, 1952. This wasn’t the first time the football had been yanked away from him—Violet holds that honor. But from this strip onward, Lucy was the culprit behind one of the strip’s most beloved recurring gags.
