I recorded this today, in Portland, Oregon, at a huge march to the ICE facility in SW. The crowd was full of cyclists who had ridden there in memory of Alex Pretti; members of several labor unions; and ordinary citizens of every age, including this little girl. So of course ICE deployed tear gas.

This is pretty much exactly what the First Amendment does not allow
“… exercising their rights over the next three years. This is especially true of instances where Trump’s government is eager to criminalize forms of speech, activism, and support for immigrants as “terrorism.””

With Don Lemon’s Shocking Arrest, Trump Expands His Total War on Free Speech
The rabidly anti-First Amendment administration plans to keep escalating its fascist assault on journalists, activists, and ordinary Americans too.

I unfortunately have a sense of what this Court might say, but it does seem like the administration is trying to assert the superiority of the free exercise clause to all other constitutional provisions — including free speech

insisting on calling every mass day of protest or one-day boycott a "general strike" is not the move. it's good to see people rallying around the cause, it matters, but if you want to be part of a large-scale labor action that shuts down the gears of capital, start by unionizing your workplace!!!

An uprising of children in a DHS concentration camp in Dilly, Texas!

They focused on the mistreatment of Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-year-old from Minnesota, abducted with his father by ICE last week

Immigration attorney Eric Lee could hear shouting [and] believed “hundreds of children” took part.
Immigrant Children Lead Uprising at Texas Detention Center
The immigrant jail, where many children are detained, has "horrible" conditions, including "putrid" drinking water.

In the Jewish quarter in Prague, there’s a museum that contains dozens of drawings of kids held in Treblinka. And they look pretty damn similar.
A drawing by a 5-year-old girl detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas with her mother Hayam El-Gamal. “I am 5 years old” is written at the top of the page. Lower down, next to stick figures, are the words “let us go.” Courtesy of Eric Lee, Lee & Godshall-Bennett, LLP

I have a forthcoming article which touches on this issue, but — despicable as it is — NPS likely has authority to do this under government speech doctrine.
Trump is using our national parks as a pawn to try and whitewash history and ignore reality. The National Park Service has a responsibility to present facts without political interference – removing exhibits about slavery and climate change is unacceptable.
Philadelphia sues after slavery exhibits were taken down from President's House site
The lawsuit says the National Park Service removed the displays referring to slavery "presumably pursuant to the mandate” of an executive order from President Donald Trump.

That's up there with "lawyer dog" in the annals of bad faith cop interpretations of people waiving rights
My wife told me she heard at a training she attended that ICE has argued "ALL ARE WELCOME HERE" signs are invitations to enter private spaces and if that don't beat all I don't know what does.

gallego sucks (his position on trans issues means I will never trust him) but it's very good that a frontline, moderate-coded member of the senate caucus is calling for miller's head and hopefully it will help drag the rest of the squishes towards this position

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.
