I'm in St. Louis, aka Saint Louis. From San Diego, love the Padres. Big fan of government transparency and accountability. Trying to live in the world and leave it better than I found it. Just a dude.

Something the Board of Aldermen can do is amend the ordinance governing tax incentives to prohibit source of income discrimination for those developments. We don't want to incentivize discrimination.

Sucks to see rental postings in STL City discriminating against housing voucher holders and there's nothing you can do about it anymore. (The city's ordinance prohibiting source of income discrimination was preempted by a new state law this past session.)

My latest on the data center proposal at the Armory. Some new details from consultants for the project, but many questions went unanswered.
stlpublicradio.bsky.social
St. Louis residents raised alarms over electricity rates, water use and lack of transparency during the first town hall on a proposed data center in the Armory.

Developers say the project could bring jobs and tax revenue, but many remain unconvinced.
Consultants met with complaints during first town hall on Armory data center proposal
Concerned St. Louis residents made their thoughts known about a proposed $1.5 billion data center project that developers hope to build on the premises of the shuttered Armory building in Midtown.

“Nick Hartzler, a senior project manager with Steadfast City, said the developers do not “currently plan” to seek local tax breaks but could apply for a state program that allows certain data centers exemptions on sales and use taxes.”

#ArmoryTIF wasn’t mentioned. 👀

Apart from helping Comey's selective prosecution defense, this also means the president of the United States uses direct messages on Truth Social to communicate with cabinet officials.

I didn't know that, but we can be sure intelligence agencies all over the planet already did.

Bullshit. She chose to identify as someone who would not personally profit from the project she called in to support. It’s a scam. She is a lead on this project. She stands to gain a SIGNIFICANT amount from it and not just $$$. @mbinfpse.bsky.social this material fact invalidates the vote.

Of note, Dvorak hosted the first Armory town hall last night. A city resident asked why she didn't say who she was at the commission meeting. She said she regretted it and didn't know how to identify herself at the meeting due to her part in the Armory project.

A speaker at the STL Public Infrastructure and Utilities meeting tonight says she's a former city resident who works with a company in the city. She gave a very pro data center perspective. Google reveals she's an employee of Steadfast City, a consultant working on the Armory data center proposal.

Given the fact the co-principal from #SteadfastCity lied about who she was in the Board of Aldermen Committee meeting. You can only trust they will say anything and do anything to get the project done. And get massive incentives. It’s a scam. It’s all a scam.

Given Nick Hartzler’s steadfast habit of sharing misleading or false info about the Jefferson Arms taxing districts*, I have no confidence that the public will receive accurate information on all the incentives that are being/will be sought

DM @stephkukuljan.bsky.social for the Zoom info for the Oct. 9, 5:30 p.m. virtual meeting hosted by the development team for the proposed #500Prospect #datacenterSTL

What independent* parties will be available to fact check the developer’s financial claims?

I suggest @goodjobsfirst.org

Nope! The first man to testify.

I spoke immediately after Dvorak’s comments. Her failure to name her employer was sadly unsurprising but typifies the obfuscation tactics used by development consultants. Steadfast City was identified today as consultant for the #500Prospect data center developer.

In case anyone was expecting transparency regarding the value of Missouri's incentives for data centers (new facility or expansion): by law the financial data is kept confidential.

A new perpetrator of this appears, but this time wants to voice her complaints one at a time via email, and every concession to her just enrages her more. I’ve never seen someone so mad when I agree to a change in their favor. I gave up an indemnification carve out for you!
