It is simply not politically or economically tenable for California and New York to fund the federal government while Trump tries to kneecap the states.
In January, Donald Trump looked me in the eye on the tarmac, promising Angelenos that he'd help rebuild after the firestorms.

11 months later, he still hasn't delivered.

That's why I'm headed to D.C. to push for a long-overdue federal aid package for survivors.

In addition, the whole reason why the ACA is set up as ADVANCE tax credits is because if you could afford to wait over a year to get the financial help you probably wouldn’t need the assistance in the first place.
Even if an above-the-line deduction where you don’t have to itemize, it would provide the biggest benefit to those with the highest incomes/in highest tax brackets while providing no or modest benefits to those with lower incomes (who now most benefit from the enhanced Marketplace credits). 1/2
Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is proposing a new tax deduction for healthcare costs as lawmakers face an end-of-year deadline to address an expiring Affordable Care Act tax credit.

Wow, Adm. Holsey didn't leave of his own accord, Hegseth pushed him out. What looked like the SOCOM head resigning rather than do war crimes now looks like SecDef canning him to facilitate war crimes.

Congress should have him testify, and would've already if war-crime-sympathetic GOP didn't run it.

I think that's an important point.
Any thoughts on the take (Phillip Bump) that because there was no public declaration on war until after the boat bombings became public, and this was the first such bombing, the victims could not possibly have understood they were in a war zone.

And also: why were there 11 people on the boat? Drug war experts say that drug boats typically carry only 2-3 because they want space for drugs. Widely suspected that there were migrants killed, not just drug smugglers.
How does this square with earlier reports that the boat had turned around and was heading to shore even before the first strike? Also what evidence is there that any drugs on the boat were headed to the US and not (more likely) Europe? How did this constitute a “threat”? www.wsj.com/politics/nat...
