AI becoming self-aware and wiping us out is a very remote possibility.

Nuclear war wiping us out is a possibility.

Climate change is a certainty, it's happening now and it's accelarating. The warming trajectory we are on now is an extinction one, for humans and for a lot of other life.

It's pretty wild to me that investigators have uncovered that anti-trans campaigns are largely funded by the fossil fuel industry, and that the presumed motivations are pretty directly to redirect the public conversation away from climate change... and that this isn't bigger news.

Ok, how much excess heat has been absorbed by the oceans and how do you propose to get rid of it?

It will have an effect on climate for hundreds if not thousands of years.

I think there's no way we fix this, but that we have to try everything we can, because we're not alone on this planet.

I'm in the UK. I've literally had Japanese directors laugh in my face about Brexit as I make what meagre efforts I can to reject that ideology. America goes full on neighbours hiding neighbours Nazi and Japan still repeatedly pushes the boat out for it purely due to its wealth.
