One thing that's missing here are #introduction posts for newcomers or welcoming them. I'll start: I'm #French, settled in #Japan. I mostly post about #nature (the good and the bad), my corner of Japan (the one with the #art #islands), #crows and sometimes #English #education in the country.

Hard no to this: French publisher Harlequin has told translators that their work will now be done by AI. They can ‘revise’ AI translations at much lower rate. It’s a subsidiary of Harper Collins so treat this as a test for rollout elsewhere
"Bradage de la traduction, plan social invisible : Harlequin passe à l’IA"

Faites tourner, parce qu'il va falloir se battre encore plus. :/

Happy to learn that such things are happening on Naoshima.
Participants emerge from the conference room into the bright sunlight of Naoshima Island in CCII's first international symposium on Cancer, Metabolism, and Immunity.
CCII sponsored this small, intimate meeting where participants freely shared and discussed ideas & data in a beautiful setting.

Extreme precipitation willl become more frequent putting people living near seasonal rivers at great risk.

We need robust early warning systems for people living near rivers!

So very sad. But very predictable, unfortunately. This is part of why I am against things like EXPO and the Olympics. The waste. The lack of a post-event plan. The lack of any concept or execution that constitutes real, proper, lasting legacy.
