There’s no need to treat these people as anything but the sordid rabble of crooks and grifters and subnormal bigots that they are.

Every time I open Bluesky, it's just another fresh hell to discover. Today, it's Disney getting in bed with OpenAI.

Like this is just downright awful. ( My views are my own and do not come from my employer in any way) ( Unfortunately) But I think everyone in animation should be appalled and disgusted by this , hell anyone in entertainment. This is a slope down the hill of using AI to make everything and cut us .

When audiences decided the opinion of a critic they read regularly was not as valuable as the thumbs up and thumbs down of 150 random critics, many of whom were only published on their own personal websites. The volume of opinions dwarfed educated ones. That was the first big crack.
What do you think the first death knell of the modern media landscape was? When we started conflating art with content or when we stopped being able to tell the difference between audience and community?

Marjorie Taylor Greene switched her vote on the NDAA because she got a promise from Republican leadership to put up a bill that would make providing gender affirming care to minors in any capacity a class c felony.

Same. I got to watch Airplane! at a very young age, and it molded my sense of humor. The same goes for watching the likes of The Simpsons and Married... With Children while killjoy teachers and other parents were ranting against those shows.
i feel so fortunate that my parents were not very strict or puritanical at all with my media consumption as a kid. i played Vice City when i was like 9, which in retrospect is the correct age to appreciate GTA

I'm going to go ahead and assume December 19th was the day public schools in Norman would be breaking for the holidays anyways, so one more day really isn't that big a deal.

As someone who is in charge of tracking, on a weekly basis, the comings and goings of three of the most popular streaming services, l o fucking l at the idea that viewers have "taken control" of a goddamn thing
going to ignore the meritocracy angle here and interrogate the second half: have they taken control? a tech journalist ought to know that this is not true, consumers are shunted into algorithms, dissatisfied with the queue, unable to do something as simple as screenshot a funny scene on most apps
If movie theaters were a thing consumers loved, they would be there. They go there for horror movies, some action blockbusters. Let me reiterate a line I wrote decades ago about the nascent digital space: Consumers have taken control of their entertainment experience & they are never giving it back.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

NEW: Dr. Oz is quite literally telling his federal employees to eat less.

“You don't have to try every cookie on the holiday table,” wrote Mehmet Oz in an email to all Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services employees.
