Congress has shown glimmers of resistance to Trump's anti-science agenda when it comes to funding. But Trump has presidentialized the internal workings of science in ways that funding alone cannot fix. For example, in his first day in office Trump blocked peer review panels from being formed.

I was always told that one of the central lessons of the Shoah is that legal, juridical regimes can still be immoral. The claim that Anne Frank was in Amsterdam "legally" is false, but more than that, the question "Was Anne Frank an illegal?" is so grossly missing the point of Holocaust remembrance.
To avoid the possibility Holocaust remembrance might lead to empathy for migrants, Trump's antisemitism envoy claims Anne Frank "was in Amsterdam legally."

In reality, Margot Frank received a summons to go to a labor camp on July 5, 1942. After ignoring this call, they were in Amsterdam illegally.

Here is an example of a Dutch call-up paper for Jews to report to labor camps.

The Frank family ignored their call-up, meaning they were officially in Amsterdam illegally from this point on.

The Trump administration is doing Holocaust revisionism to avoid the possibility of empathy for migrants.

In Trump’s reality-TV addled brain, his underlings are merely a rotating cast of expendable characters. He’s not invested in them or in a particular plot or in anything. He just moves on to the next spectacle or provocation that gives him a frisson of power.

Last week marked 16 years since the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision in Citizens United.

I’ve authored a proposed constitutional amendment — H.J.Res. 122 — to overturn it & over 70 of my colleagues have joined our effort.

I’ll keep fighting to get it across the finish line.

solid state batteries are going to seriously change the world and not enough people are hyped enough
We are entering a new era.

🔋Energy density of 400 watt-hours per kg. (250–300 Wh/kg for today’s best lithium-ion batteries)
🔋 Fully recharge in five minutes and sustain that performance for up to 100,000 charge cycles
🔋Retain more than 99% of capacity in temperatures ranging from -22°F to 212°F
The First Production-Ready Solid-State Battery Promises 5-Minute Charging
Donut Lab says its all-solid-state battery is already in production, offering better fast charging and energy density than today’s lithium-ion packs.

Literal majority of the public: “abolish ice, zero out their funding”

Leading Democrats: “wow, bold negotiating position guys, if you insist, we’ll see if we can get a few concessions while funding DHS.”
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

the DHS scramble to throw people under the bus is funny considering even going back to Trump's first term he has repeatedly publicly explicitly directed cops and ICE to murder immigrants, protesters, and "antifa" in the streets, "no arrest, no trial," and told them he'd protect them
