reminds me of when Krugman wrote about his novel new economic idea that for some reason, we keep seeing companies' rates of profit fall
That original source is absolutely sending me. An economist who’d never considered whether the poverty line is a legitimate measure?!?! ☠️ This stuff is policy 101 we live in a fucking morontocracy

I get to remake the entire Star Wars Saga. (The "remakes" of 4 and 5 are just rereleases of the grindhouse editions)
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

i would like 3-4 2-cup Rubbermaid containers. Unfortunately they're always having a sale on 26-piece sets, making that cheaper than 3-4 2-cup containers. I will not buy the set because i don't want that many fuckin containers, but it prevents me from buying 2-cup containers because i feel ripped off

after The First Debate I said Biden should drop out and only Harris could replace him, and mocked those calling for a blitz primary. I'm ready to say I was wrong, anything would have been better than running Harris, AND i should have known that at the time after watching her in 2020
The Kamala Harris book is so excruciating

Journalist: So are Trump's operations illegal?

Slotkin (D-CIA): I uh well, we've been advising people talk to JAG
Sen. Slotkin said today—to my surprise—that she's unaware of any illegal orders *so far*.

"teachers are elites who want to hurt your kids to preserve their own wealth and power" is one of the most ludicrous articles of faith among the right and the center
And of course we get the brain-dead political analysis. The biggest crisis of public education (and the greatest threat to kids with mental illness) is the Republican Party's funding cuts. But guess who gets blamed in the conclusion of the article?

49/50 days i have the iron certainty that Donald Trump is the stupidest person in the history of humanity. 1/50 days Matty posts a Take
Wait until he finds out that nationalism is weird identity stuff

Tom's claim appears to be "Republican administrations of the 80's reneged on promises of border security, before Clinton implemented the most severe border policy in US history, that's how we know Dems/liberals are doing great replacement theory"
Your periodic reminder that @radiofreetom.bsky.social who many of you like to follow, and who writes for the Atlantic, was pushing the great replacement theory before Trump and has never apologized for it. He's part of what got us here.

it's so funny funny, if predicable, that "you bsky bubblites need to interact with twitter, where the voice of america is accurately represented" turned out to be "you bsky bubblites need to interact with twitter, where the voice of america (location: Thailand) is accurately represented"

dick Cheney posited that the vice presidency was a pseudo "fourth branch" of the government that had all the powers of the presidency and senate, but the accountability and oversight of neither. when asked about the illegality and corruption of the Iraq War he responded "So?" he was SUPER fascist
he factually made the USA embody itself globally through the application of a top-to-bottom socially militarized force, and turning the machinery of the imperial periphery toward the imperial core vis a vis unlimited surveillance, imprisonment, rendition and torture.

i think it's neoliberals failing to see the inherent contradictions of neoliberalism even when directly pointed out. they're imagining "isn't it preferable if the genocidal empire is woke" like it's reconcilable. it's not! you can't have that and the point is, people selling it to you are lying!
Its wrong to be misgendered but it was also wrong to say rainbow b-52s are preferable when the picture itself shows them actively dropping bombs. I don't think anyone misunderstands what you mean, but to pretend you didn't say something that victims of imperialism would find offensive is also wrong.
Felt the need to share my journal entry today. Don't know why. Here it is, make of it what you will.

i think this would be fine, even good, if it was just political posturing, but it's not, multiple politicians and public figures have been murdered or attacked after Trump rants about them, we've been beyond "it's just fiery rhetoric" for years
A member of Congress just filled out a threat report with the Capitol Police naming the President of the United States as the person making the threat.

Think of where we were on January 7, 2021 when the country overwhelmingly repudiated what had happened.

And think of where we are now.

there is something here about how they can't even get their chatbots to do "shine me up" or "promote white supremacy" (or "handle this billing question") well, all EXTREMELY simple tasks compared to "be an accurate oracle of knowledge" or "be an employee that can replace a real employee"

Will's primary political thesis over the past few years has been that leftists angry about Democrats not protecting and including people of all backgrounds are focusing on trivial things and only looking for excuses to hate Democrats post-hoc
“do we protect, include, and tolerate people from all backgrounds” is the beating heart and solemn promise of liberalism and I’m convinced people who trivialize it have not reflected on a world without it

a significant number of people "want" a big suburban house with a well-maintained freeway and utility system both connected directly to their house and paid for by taxes on city residents, not them. and they love to run for local office
as will notes, people tend to *say* they want suburban living. they want a big house and a big yard and etc. this is not however what is suggested by their actual purchasing practices, which invariably result in something like this:
