This sums up how narrowminded UK Treasury penny-pinching and Home Office paranoia are sabotaging efforts by UK negotiators to make gains in areas where there is less EU unity like SPS and SAFE which also happen to involve far more money.

Another sign of Downing Street indecision.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

🔥 The White House released an article on Monday citing a DoorDash report as confirmation that "inflation has been tamed."

I asked a DoorDash spokesperson today if the company had concluded from its report that inflation had been tamed. DoorDash spokesperson told me, "We did not write that."

So there’s one aspect of the BBC story that has received zero attention: Robbie Gibb’s potential financial conflict of interests.

According to @arusbridger.bsky.social, he was just the bagman for the purchase of the Jewish Chronicle.

What on earth is this nonsense from a Blue Labour MP?

What, you want a policy targeting zero illness, no full time caring responsibilities, no skills mismatches or career breaks and you think we should heavily crack down on migration until we get there?

Just not serious policy/politics.

A good example of someone using "economically inactive" to mean "available for work but choosing not to" and forgetting it covers students, early retirees, carers, severely disabled people, parents with very young children etc...

My post yesterday on the $Ibn Trump legal threat against the BBC has been picked up by newspapers around the world. It would appear few had gone through the letter and spotted that, well, it contained no evidence in support of its claims of damage.

OK. Here's the thing. You just can't put on a jacket and pretend to be a security patrol in the UK. It's actually illegal. Who the actual F are these "Essex Spartans"? Government has laws and rules and they need to enforce them.

Humans gave it a good go with the Enlightenment thing. We put dents in irrationality, the tyranny of kings and religions and superstition, the belief in nonsense.

We elevated the value of truth and rationality, of rights & freedom, of humans as individuals with dignity.

And then we didn’t like it.
