U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

My husband is a test engineer for subsea equipment. Lives depend on what he does. Why does he not want to use AI in his field?
Quote -“ it’s not just that it’s so often wrong, it’s that it’s confidently wrong and then doubles down on its mistakes.”
“Researchers from Johns Hopkins, Georgetown and Yale universities recently found that 60 FDA-authorized medical devices using AI were linked to 182 product recalls, according to a research letter published in the JAMA Health Forum in August.”
As AI enters the operating room, reports arise of botched surgeries and misidentified body parts
Medical device makers have been rushing to add AI to their products. While proponents say the new technology will revolutionize medicine, regulators are receiving a rising number of claims of patient ...

there is a woman in the moon
my great-grandmother told me
who carries a bundle of sticks
on her back

each month she swells
each month she declines
like many women
she has married a burden
and must bear it forever
across the sky

Lusten man, if you want to use ai, go right ahead, but you already know majority if peoples opinions on it

its your choice whether those opinions are important to you or not

fact is, if you use it, people *will* judge you for it

And they will probably call you out at some point

For me, the reason why 3D doesn't work is, everything is already 3D.

I'm not walking down the street marvelling at all the 3D, waving my hand in front of my face blowing my own mind.
Going "ooooo" at cars driving past, in 3D.
Super amazed as the sausage roll I got from Greggs approaches my face.

Good thread on the topic.
In honor of Meta's latest announcement, a thread on 175 years of 3D failure.

Let's first go all the way back to 1851 with the Brewster Stereoscope. No less a person than Queen Victoria was impressed, kicking off a fad that quickly sold over 250,000 units. Turns […]

Pat McFadden is asked, how much cash is Peter Mandelson getting after being sacked as ambassador. He says thats a matter between Mandelson & the foreign office.

No susprise that McFadden, who exploited his expenses to pocket £40,000 of our money, thinks its not a matter for us.

That day,
the evening sky itself
seemed afflicted—
slashed pink & red
like a flock of
flamingos standing
in a blood lagoon—

an insurrection
of the elements
holding us culpable,
a price to pay
for escaping
life's dull rhythm—

but we'd justify
our actions
by living the night
as if it was
our last.

they find a victim
and land,
entering body,
infesting soul,
breaking
cities upon cities
of self

Lately, I had had some ambivalence, but whenever I use three six line stanzas there is no room for doubt.
I will put a reading in the comments.
