1. As simple as a lot of its concepts are, it still feels ambitious in a way that a lot of AAA games nowadays would be afraid to replicate

I think a couple of things can be true at once:
1. The Americans who oppose Trump do not "deserve" the pain coming our way as the world retaliates against the US
2. Us not "deserving" it does not outweigh the rest of the world deserving to take action to act to defend themselves from the US threat
