People are reading this way wrong. Schumer detached DHS from the other five bills in return for a two week CR on the DHS bill. Now Democrats can make demands on DHS spending without having to shut down agencies covered in the other five bills. They have way more leverage to get real concessions.
People just going out here saying the literal opposite of what happened. Thune caved! Thune did! This is a cave by Thune and Senate Republicans, any possible way you cut it.

DHS is funded for the next two weeks while they negotiate, the White House folded, they wanted longer, they didn’t want to separate the DHS funding but they did. This also avoids the risk of filibuster.

This is such a brain-dead argument. There are plenty of children with gay parents whose families would be negatively affected by overturning Obergefell--not to mention the fact that there are tons of gay kids out there who might want to get married someday.

My love language is acts of service, which I do genuinely enjoy, but I've gotten myself in a situation where (many, but not all) people reach out only when they NEED something and rarely when they want to DO something and that really fucking sucks.
