After everything I am coming to the conclusion the really important discourse is the popular culture one because having good (not necessarily interesting or unique) popular culture takes is the best proxy for good political takes.

I remember reading something a while back that even if you had the money and wanted to build a rare earth refinery... you couldn't get it pass environmental protections. But its ok the government told me to go to law school and then loaned me the money at 8% interest while charging the 0% interest and then blocked all income based repayment and now I have to pay 24k in interest payment to the government a year.

My impression was always that Palestinians alway had the worst allies who instead of supporting them wanted to use them for their own goals and willing to discard them when convenient.

My understanding is that the clean alternatives ... are lab grade at best and not near commercial industrial viability.
