I think, to be very charitable, it's fair to describe Glasman's understanding of the modern world, in particular Labour's relationship with its voters, as confused.

Ultimately, there is clearly a lot of ‘soft’ defection from Labour, which should be returnable in certain circumstances. But it requires a lot of work in areas that these voters feel little-to-no progress is being made currently, as well as a less antagonistic party that doesn’t insult their values.

It’s days like today that remind us what a remarkable failure as a PM David Cameron was. Risked (and then lost) the UK’s position in the EU to head off the challenge of Nigel Farage to the Conservative Party.

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

And listen. ICE doesn’t care about your passport anyway. They detain US citizens constantly.

None of this is actually about immigration. It never was, but they aren’t even pretending anymore.

I mean, the dude grew up in West Virginia, aspired to be a comic, and dropped out of college! He's prime Trumper fodder! But by the grace of God he has instead to follow the path of having empathy and taking dog walks with Tim Walz.

He did a video a few months ago about an ICE raid that killed a dog and managed to make it about the people and it was so sharp and well done.

He started this episode of the podcast by basically telling everyone who said "get back to the dogs" to fuck off.

He's just *fully* done.

It’s always fun hearing defecting MPs explain why they won’t be holding a by-election to check their constituents are happy with their new party.

Jenrick claims he was elected at the last general election based on his personal profile and politics.

Reminder that it used to be UKIP policy (during Farage's leadership) that defecting MPs should resign and run again in a by election (and the first two MPs to defect to UKIP did so)
