12YO girl signed up to do “stand up comedy” at the talent show. 13YO boy decided to heckle her. Teacher started to tell the boy to leave her alone, but the 12YO comedian said “no, no, let him go, this is the closest he’s ever going to get to having a conversation with a girl.”
What's an insult you'll never forget?

Government services aren't businesses. Delivering mail to citizens is something we pay for.

But if these are businesses, you won't believe how much money the military loses.

The USPS faces a tight squeeze. With fewer people using the mail, it’s lost more and more money: $9 billion in the 12 months ending in September alone.

Vote to rename the Streisand effect the Weiss Effect.

Babs wasn’t being stupid when she inspired this phenomenon, she was just paranoid about her privacy. Bari is a straight-up imbecile who deserves the tarring.

Ah, good. Last night I woke up at 0530, tonight I'm headed for a 0230 slumber.

Nothing insane about that sleep cycle at all.

OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.

Not only are there a metric buttload of great games in here (Monster of the Week! Blades in the Dark! Thirsty Sword Lesbians!) but if you dig down into the Gate section, in the Worlds in Shadow book you’ll find Crimeworld, which is me puking out Heist and Con 101, for #ttrpg use or whatever you want
As the year winds down we want to take a moment.

Comey and James cases dismissed. Because Lindsey Halligan.

No legitimate prosecutor would manufacture charges against Trump’s political enemies, and one willing to failed.

Authoritarian abuses don’t work without capable personnel. Or much deeper corruption of the courts, which they don’t have.
NEWS: The criminal cases against James Comey and Letitia James are gone. A federal judge ruled that the appointment of Lindsey Halligan as the lead prosecutor was illegal.

DOJ could try again, but there are other headwinds.

Turns out this was all much ado about nothing and Google isn’t using your Gmail to train AI and if wanna turn all that stuff back on you can get your spam filters back
Looks like the article has been updated to suggest maybe they misread the policy.

I see people complaining that this also disabled their spam filters, though I still see new messages showing up in spam so it's still working fine for me after disabling things.
[Correction] Gmail can read your emails and attachments to power "smart features"
Did you know that Gmail can use your emails and attachments for its smart features? Here's how to check your settings.

Fuck me. No indications that _paying_ Google for their services gets you tenant isolation for their LLM training shenanigans, and they replaced the _existing mail filtering_ with Gemini faffery.

Saw an article today describing the age of the average homebuyer as 59. It enraged me. So I thought of this image and determined every article quoting this NAR report was fucking chatgpt, and the average age is ... 40. Still enraging.

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Seeing that a collection of retiring and not-up-for-reelection democrats provided the tiebreaking votes is just the shit-icing on the shit-cake.

They selected people who wouldn't take a hit to perform this act of cowardice, so democrats would look better next year.

Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
