[Miller] gushed about creating “vast holding facilities” built on “open land,” which would enable Trump to escalate the volume and speed of deportations to unprecedented heights. Trembling with excitement, Miller vowed: “President Trump will do whatever it takes.”
Vast camps are central to Trumpism. Stephen Miller has long been very excited about them. Backlash is another sign that opposition to Trump/Miller runs deeper than revulsion at ICE. There's real resistance to the whole ideological project of mass deportations. 4/

Remember the incident where DHS claimed officers shot a guy because he attacked them with a snow shovel?

Yeah. It didn't happen. They shot him through the door of his own home. And then arrested him. And then lied about it. Again.

And they almost shot some kids in the process.
They just blindly shot through the fucking door.

"Additional photographs show damage consistent with a bullet fragment lodged in a bedroom wall down the hallway — suggesting it traveled between a mattress and a portable crib in a room where several small children sleep."
"Photographic evidence from the shooting scene of a Venezuelan man by federal agents last month in Minneapolis supports the account of witnesses there – and appears to undercut the narrative provided by federal officials." www.startribune.com/ice-raids-mi...

Damn right we object to Donald Trump’s attempt to take over our nation’s central bank.

All 11 Democrats on @banking.senate.gov are clear: until the sham criminal investigations into Fed Board members are closed, we must not move forward on any Fed nominee.

👀 The FDA webpage 🧠🪱 doesn't want you to see ❗❗

Given recent shenanigans with the autism advisory committee, we wanted to remind y'all that an FDA page warning about bogus autism cures was quietly pulled down

But there's an archived link in this article 😉
FDA Pulls Warning About 'Potentially Dangerous' Autism Therapies
The Food and Drug Administration quietly removed a page from its website warning consumers about bogus products and therapies that claim to treat or cure autism.

The successful nonviolence and civil rights movements of the past, as I’ve gathered from reading about them, ALSO featured a shit ton of incessant petty drama and in-fighting.

But crucially, they didn’t have social media - so this was kept far more private.

When folks in our world talk about pivoting to private philanthropy ... what are they talking about? Universities have been chasing that private money forever.

What juice is left for the squeeze?
This is another one of the reasons I’m so deeply troubled by the fabulous new plan to just pivot to private philanthropy.

Billionaires will not save science
From 2019: Jeffrey Epstein liked to describe himself as a “science philanthropist,” and academics liked to take his money.

As more of Epstein’s enablers are uncovered, it’s worth asking why it was so easy for him to infiltrate science in the first place.

This is absolutely insane: DHS claims the right to subpoena your emails and to send investigators to your house. In this case, because a retiree sent the mildest possible criticism to a prosecutor. No judges involved.

To repeat - ICE agents have been trained to ignore the law, to act outside the law, not enforce it.

Hundreds and hundreds of crimes being committed, daily, by people paid for by all of us.

bsky.app/profile/timw...
There is no law that allows these observers to be arrested. Multiple constitutional violations are happening every goddamn time they do this. And they will kill an innocent person again, it's only a matter of time.

Putting ICE at risk (hypothetically, and without any evidence of it having happened)? ❌

Putting local residents at risk (not hypothetical at all, with indisputable evidence of lethal encounters)? ✅

This is how Congressional GOP views our lives.
"Calling us fascists is incitement!"

"Also, putting any limits or accountability on our secret police militia is a non-starter!"

I'm in Arkansas, and the response to data centers here has been enlightening. Too many people got burned by crypto miners dumping a shipping container full of servers running 24/7 in their backyard, and now they want blood. It's a very broad coalition of people.
4. I’ve spent some time tracking and attending local populist responses to ai data centers. Despite some critiques from left that it’s all repackaged “nimby bullshit” (as I’ve been told), I have seen organic multiracial coalitions on this issue. Esp. in places with strong environmental racism orgs

ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...
