So I'm a Chaos Muppet which means I have ridiculous ideas sometimes but I figure why not see if there's interest in some of them. For instance, would folks want to watch a video of me breaking down the Netflix Christmas Movie Cinematic Universe and its implications on what even is reality?

This is "debanking", and its a problem that has plagued sex workers for decades. It isnt right when its targetting sex workers and its not right when its targetting game devs and creators either.

Give paypros and your givt reps your grievances and demand that debanking of adult content stop

Per Reddit: Steam adult developer in the UK is sitting on a USD equivalent of six figures, can’t find a bank to take his money because the developer creates adult games

I develop adult video games on Steam. I can't find a bank that will actually let me withdraw my money from Steam. Can I get some advice?
Game has sold quite well on Steam. I've got almost £90,000 ready to withdraw after Steam's cut + VAT taken off.

However, it's been 2 months now and I can't find ANY bank in the UK who will let me withdraw my money from Steam. I've been banned/refused/unable to get a business account with:

Wise
Revolut
Monzo
Monese
Chase
Starling
Nationwide
Halifax
Barclays
Lloyds
RBS

It always comes down to, "Where did you get this money from?"

"It's coming from games I sell on Steam."

"Can we see the store page?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry, we can't do business with you at this time."

It keeps coming down to a commercial decision purely because I make adult content.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I've pretty much exhausted the whole banking system. I just want to be able to be paid for products I've sold.

What would you name a podcast where @doctornerdlove.com and I read relationship stories and analyze them/react to them? We've got some ideas, but y'all are smart and funny, so your ideas are probably better. If we go with your idea, I'd be happy to send you a $50 gift certificate to my online store!

Trump calling for Netanyahu to be pardoned as a consequence/unofficial sweetener of ending the Gaza War makes total sense when you realise that Netanyahu crafts national policy based on personal interest.

So Trump's call for a pardon for Netanyahu should be considered a form of corruption itself.

“These findings follow previous research which concluded that the more people learn about how AI works, the less they trust it. The opposite was also true — AI’s biggest fanboys tended to be those who understood the least about the tech.”
The More Scientists Work With AI, the Less They Trust It
A preliminary report shows that researchers' confidence in AI software dropped off a cliff over the last year.

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that

"jim crow inspired the nuremberg laws" is a corruption of what actually happened, which is that nazi lawyers looked at jim crow laws hoping to mine its justifications and language for the creation of legal race categories, and by and large outright failed

Post like this and I unfollow and mute. This is erasing centuries of European pogroms and other violence prior to WWII by making America the sin-eater for the entire Western world. I won't have it and I won't let it slide:

we didn’t cause Nazism. whatever caused incumbents to tank in 2024, it wasn’t unique to us. we aren’t uniquely corrupt, or violent, or authoritarian. there are good things and bad things about our country like any other, and Americans work a lot like people anywhere

sometimes it feels like people, especially american leftists, believe that the united states of america is the final boss of history, that it is the sole nexus of every evil in the world, that it single-handedly sustains every evil humanity has faced for millennia

sorry. it's not that easy.

like every goddamn thing in history, the harder you try to pull up the roots of a given thing, the deeper you find they go. did the nazis take inspiration from america? yes! and from russian antisemitism, and from the european wars of religion, and from roman citizenship laws, and from-

unfortunately, oppressive hierarchies are not a unique evil to any one group of people, and there's no point in history we can point to as the moment the Oppression Virus sprang forth and spread. we can trace how these horrid ideas emerged, diverged, and synthesized, but there's no ultimate source

sometimes people spin that as 'american race laws were *too racist* for the nazis!' but like, no, the nazis were trying to build a set of racist laws to do a different kind of evil thing for their own reasons, because they're different places with different histories.

When some atheists stop being Christian, they stay Christian. They still contextualize their morality in the frameworks of heaven, hell, sin, vengeful gods, omnipotent gods. They still view all other religions as heathens, pagans, and fellow people of the book.

They just switch God=Yes to God=No

In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.

She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.

This is not about immigration enforcement.

It's about terrorizing Americans.

this is the list of ideological identifiers laid out in the NSPM-7 that would predict violence, and are all of course, incredibly reasonable positions or just ridiculous framing, like “extremism on gender” which is just being pro-trans:

It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

i love science & i love that brassica is clearly some variety of eldritch entity that manifests as a bitter plant, native to the liminal plateaus on the thresholds of reality.

as humans, we are for some reason compelled to trick each other into devouring it.

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
