Holy bulgogi!

I did NOT expect such a surge of followers. If you're just following me for the first time:

I skeet about housing, tech and identity. My biggest pet peeves are modern day segregation and opportunity hoarding along lines of race and class. Esp here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The official death count in South Sudan is nearly 1,600, making it the worst cholera epidemic in the country’s history.

But that toll is a dramatic undercount.

ProPublica found newly dug, unmarked graves alongside roads and in backyards.

Of all the times I was languishing at airports, never once did I crave a pull up bar.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that they would invest $1 billion in making airports a wellness space.

This didn’t go over too well, and it’s not hard to understand why:
Please don’t make airports healthy again. Just make them more efficient.
Mini gyms and healthier food options aren’t going to make airports less miserable.

I hate it when people clearly embody hierarchy and status in their interactions with subordinates (e.g. writing shit quality emails, making people pick up your slack, because you're pulling rank) so much that I deliberately try to do the opposite.

Is promoting diversity that much more "distracting" than hamfistedly engineering ethnic homogeneity? I dunno. You decide.

The idea of abolishing the EU now goes from utterly ridiculous to faintly possible because a whole host of internet chuds are now learning about the EU for the first time.

One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

Today on Indicator: 2025 has been a banner year for AI nudifiers. I found another 9,000 ads on Meta since my last report, bringing the total for this year to 25,000. The top 10 nudifying websites got 10 million views in October.
Nonconsensual nude generators had another banner year. What will it take to defeat them?

Big housing news in San Francisco today: the Board of Supervisors (their equivalent of City Council) votes to upzone the entire western half of the city. Currently much of the westside is houses. Commercial streets get a height boost.

Celebrating something more than a decade over due, but celebrating none the less.
Starting Dec 10, most Bay Area transit transfers will be free for two hours. If you take AC Transit to BART then transfer to Muni, your fare today is $9.10. With Clipper 2, the free AC and Muni transfers mean your fare will be just $3.90

Hey folks: this morning we're launching a monthlong fundraiser for @techdirt.com. Over the last year, we've been steadfast in not self-censoring, not capitulating, not sanewashing bullshit. But that's come at a cost. And we need help: rtb.techdirt.com/products/fri...

I'd like to commend all my fellow YIMBYs in the trenches on this, knowing full well the preservation of down zoning has been a tool for home owning incumbents to halt new populations from integrating into their neighborhoods. We still have a long way to go, but this is one major obstacle cleared.
Family Zoning passes the first reading 7-4 at the Board of Supervisors. I've legit been working on this for 3 years. LET'S FUCKING GO.

If you showed up at a hearing, sent a letter, told your friends, or organized to make this happen, THANK YOU

Today, our new District 4 Supervisor, Alan Wong, was sworn in.

As Sunset residents, we know what our neighborhood needs most after a recall, two ballot measures, and a Supervisor appointee resignation: a leader who can show us the way forward, not work to destroy Sunset Dunes.
