I made this through the super scientific process of looking for people who had rainbows and locations in their bios until I got to the bare minimum number of people needed: please help me expand it! go.bsky.app/8XZ2aJ2

if you can order the FBI to initiate a seditious conspiracy investigation into six senators, there's no reason not to do the same with six supreme court justices (who are way way less protected)

Younger people who didn't witness it cannot fathom the hype around the Segway. Every news station agreed it would revolutionize the entire social fabric of the Earth. That all future humans would divide history between the savage days of the past, and the soon to be new era of zoom zoom scoot scoot.

what's crazy is this is the same number of seats Democrats had in 2009
"If Democrats see the same shift in Congress next year as they saw in TN-07 Tuesday night, they’d win a landslide victory of 258 seats in the U.S. House."
A recap of tonight's special election in TN-07 (plus a WAY-TOO-EARLY model of the 2026 midterms).

A swing of 13 points would put Dems over 250 seats in the U.S. House. A more reasonable scenario—say, D+6—still gives them the House, and maybe the Senate.

fourth year in a row? in 2024? hey who was president those four years

just unprosecuted Elon crime 64,827,927, and he still thinks he's the victim
Elon Musk’s charitable foundation grew larger than ever in 2024. But, for the fourth year in a row, the huge charity failed to give away the minimum amount required by law — and the donations it did make went largely to charities closely tied to Musk himself, who is the world's richest man.
Elon Musk’s Foundation Grows to $14 Billion, but Gives Little to Outsiders
The philanthropy has become one of America’s biggest, but most of its giving went to charities closely tied to the world’s richest man.

It’s useful to think about things like this in numbers of tenure track professors.

$33M is 358 assistant professors. Or about fourteen percent of the total number of full-time faculty at Michigan State.
SOURCES: Michigan State is firing head coach Jonathan Smith, @theathletic.com has learned.

He went 9-15 in two seasons, including 1-8 in the Big Ten this year. (ESPN first reported).

MSU players meeting called for 2:45. Smith has a $33 million buyout (with offset).
