Just some she/her woman. Lives in That London. Solidly built, solidly GenX. Bloodstream is 50% tea. I love your pet. If you follow me and I don't know who you are, then I'm unlikely to return the favour. Sorry. OH BOY HOW MANY WORDS CAN YOU FIT ON YOUR PR-
Another extremely obtuse claim to fame, freshly minted! Stu & I once played a in quiz league match against the captain of a series-winning Only Connect team!
(Our league team lost.)

A very important thing for you to know about Icelandic is that the word "rassgat" (butthole) is used as an endearment about cute things. So if you say someone is "algjört rassgat" (a total butthole) it means they are VERY cute. If the cuteness is overwhelming we say "rúsínurassgat" (raisin asshole).

Mum's been out of hospital since Friday. She can't walk. Dad back at home helping as much as he can. I've been over on the other side of London on Thurs, Fri, Sat and today. Today was an attempt to get dad some medical tests and get home in time to get Stu (& I) our flu jabs.

ICE isn’t bad because they’re doing a bad job at something that is necessary. it is that they are wholly unnecessary, and their function is evil.

TOTP '89 showing a song that I cannot remember at all. Nonetheless, when the DJ says "...Climie Fisher!" Stu and I intone "Fisher hates gravel". #HMHB

Starting the year with an important correction. I misremembered, and the courier company I was thinking of was DPD Local who are pretty good, there is no such thing as Evri Local, just Evri... which is shite.
Yes, I drove over and delivered the parcel to someone who I think was the addressee's mum. My god, Evri are shite. (Although weirdly, the Evri Local offshoot...not awful.)

Off you fuck, 2025. A truly terrible year both personally and globally. I wish I could look forward to 2026 being better.

For folk who don't do faceboak, an update: My mum had a fall last week and has been in hospital since last Friday. The hospital is on the other side of London from me. She's not about to die, but thanks to a cracked vertebra we don't know when she'll be home. My dad is not doing well on his own.

Evri, outdoing even the lowest expectations, dropped a parcel on the doorstep, rang the bell and by the time I got there, wre pulling away with an actual squeal of brakes. The parcel was not for us. The parcel was addressed to a road near Old Street. Reader, Old Street is in zone 1. We're in zone 4.

Nothing like a live storytelling performance to make it clear how much your hearing loss has advanced. The performance was great, but I could barely make out the words. Maybe about half a dozen short phrases in the course of a 30 mins+ reading. This sucks.

#COMPANIONSofCHRISTMAS: Belsnickel!

Belsnickel was a hermit in Germany’s large and wild Black Forest, a fur trapper who wanted nothing more than to be left alone, but he lived near the entrance of a cave that children from a nearby village liked to explore. 1/

I've had very little cause to feel proud of my nationality for the last decade or so, but hearing the someone has protested at the Tower of London by throwing apple crumble and custard at the crown jewels has ignited a little flame in my heart. Sometimes mad island is mad in an alright way. 💛

And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

A dream, many days ago, of which I can remember almost nothing apart from a line from a song that was being sung by an artist and their audience, which I was part of. It makes no sense, but I can still remember it: Our home is a passing road on the side of a cool, dark square. The melody is lovely.
