In 1862 Fort Snelling was the site of a concentration camp for the 1,600 Dakota people. Over that winter it is estimated that 300 people died from malnutrition and disease.
The Whipple building is on the same campus as Fort Snelling where ICE is disappearing non-citizens and detaining citizens
