how about a steep tax on billionaires. and how about using that tax base to fund the things that families actually need — say, reliable and affordable health care. perhaps a robust transit system. schools with enough resources to thrive, rather than merely survive

I have seen this play out in a courthouse. The day started with 2 agents being watched and by the time the day ended there were 5 agents. Because of the way the case played out they weren't able to abduct their target. That means they pulled resources from elsewhere *and* left empty-handed.
The success of ICE watch interfering with ICE’s mission is almost certainly why DHS keeps sending more agents to Minneapolis.
They used to execute their raids with just a few agents. Now they need 6-12 to even begin to disrupt the social pressure to be nonviolent.

DTIR 2: One of the only non-white characters is also the only gay character. This is mentioned in one strip and (afaik) never again a la Dumbledore. Ironically, like Rowling, this was also in Adams' "woke" era before a sharp veer to the right
Dilbert thing i remember 1: Dilbert almost had a girlfriend but she got written out if the script bc so many people wrote to Scott Adams stating that they use Dilbert as a personal measuring stick and Dilbert getting into a relationship would ruin that

Don't bother arguing about whether ICE is a police force or a military force. It's neither. It behaves as a disorganized, violent mob, cursing, shouting contradictory orders, and attacking unarmed citizens on a whim. It is deployed to create fear and chaos, not to enforce laws or establish order.
