Something that’s been overlooked in the storm surrounding the Vanity Fair piece on Susie Wiles is that it’s transitive proof of what @jamellebouie.net has said for months:

In a practical sense, Trump is not POTUS.

That job is being performed by a committee of three: Vance, Rubio, and Miller.

Campa-Najjar: Voters know whose fault it is because Trump can try to bullshit all he wants, but Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the presidency. So when government is failing people right now—and it is—they know who’s at fault. It’s Trump and his party and sycophants like Darrell Issa.

AOC: I want to remind you where the real crime is. It's in the oligarchs taking $170 billion of our money from health care and food assistance and public programs and taking that and funneling it into a secret police program.

So he's admitting that it's not about drug cartels smuggling drugs on fishing boats. Why did he blow up the fishing boats in the Caribbean? Were they carrying oil too? 🛢🤔

The seat was also one of the final two races left on my guides of elections to watch in December.

(The final one is on December 30, somehow!)

More here: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...

But here's more from @the-downballot.com on the GOP nominee today:
There's a special election tonight for the KY Senate in a seat that Harris won by just 5 points last year, but the GOP doesn't seem to be contesting it seriously.

One possible reason? Their candidate called young women “coddled americunts."

A week ago, I wrote that Democrats flipped 21% of all state legislative seats held by the GOP that were in play this year.

Republicans, meanwhile, had flipped none.

This KY seat was one of just a couple left before the end of 2025.

A quite startling overperformance for Democrats in tonight's special election for a state Senate seat in Kentucky:

Democrat Gary Clemons won 72% to 25%.

He was defending a Dem-held seat where Kamala Harris beat Trump by 5% last year.
