I'm really excited to let you all know that I'm now represented by @litagentfran.bsky.social at Kate Nash Literary Agency. I'm looking forward to working with her on my first novel inspired by Lebor Gabála Érenn, aka The Book of Invasions. 🥳

One of the many things worth thinking about re: Steam's ban on Horses is how it highlights is the centralization problem caused by having such a monolithic (and maybe mono-something-else) retail giant.

Independent studios with even humble commercial aspirations are chained to Valve's whims.

Yesterday we released a Séance of Blake Manor digital artbook full of concept art & behind the scenes tidbits as part of the new Deluxe Edition.

It was a lot of fun trawling back through old files and rediscovering so much old art for the book. Check it out!

First I watched this was a free screening at the old Pay What You Please café here in Killarney back in like 2012?

Even when badly projected on a white wall it was great
watched The Third Man for research. I think all movies should dedicate this much screen time to sewer infrastructure.

I've spent a lot of this last month considering everything that came together to make the game work and I think Nicholas has done a good job of exploring many of the key reasons.
As promised...!

Here's a bit of a longer blog post about why I think the narrative of The Seance of Blake Manor works so well:

Again, can't recommend this game enough!

In The Labyrinth of Time, entering the Ziggurat without a lantern is supposed to show a black screen. However, the developers put in the wrong filename for the black screen, so it fails to render, showing a black screen instead

[no spoilers] I think it’s got one of the best stories in games this year - it’s got a very acute awareness of class stratification and is very attached to interrogating the history of ancient lands and how that gets buried or forgotten
Played through the opening of The Seance of Blake Manor this evening.

Suitably gothic, and sets up it's mystery well. Intrigued to keep playing and explore more. Has the feel of an old school point and click but with more modern sensibilities.

Me and Anubis are laughing at how heavy your heart is, man. He’s doing bits. Like acting like he can’t even lift it with both hands haha. Acting like he’s doing bicep curls with it. I’m like, damn, Anubis is in his bag

I want to write a longer post about it, but in the meantime I implore folks to check it out.

People really don't understand what an extraordinary energy revolution China is creating right now. They're installing 1GW of solar a DAY. It's not slowing down either. They just peaked their emissions and we could see them phase out coal by the end of the decade.
In 2024, China installed 1.5x as much new solar as the entire US installed base.
