there’s another way, another timeline, where art matters, and taking care of each other matters, and joy matters, and it’s worth figuring out how to get there, together

He didn't shoot her in the head at point blank range because he felt like he was in danger. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he was furious that she wasn't afraid of him. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he felt emasculated.

it really is pretty wild just as a how-we-live-now check to step back and realize that everyone in the world has now seen the murder of a young mom on video, and the president and vice president are doing touchdown dances over her dead body on social media

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.
In the video that the shooter took, which I believe was leaked to be exculpatory, he appears to yell “fucking bitch” after he shoots Renee Good.

And why are they trying to confuse poor old man Ru by putting both a Minty and a Sminty in the cast? He can't even keep the American queens' names straight anymore

My personal top 4 are Melinda, Fontana, Gawdland and Minty. But you just know production is going to find a way to put Mariah and a UK queen in the top 4. I also have a feeling they're setting up Mariah for a crown

“why do people use works of fiction to illustrate the evils of fascism instead of real life history” idk dude everyone’s been so under-taught and over-propagandized to that sometimes the only way for the truth to sneak in is with the shroud of fiction

I was first unsettled, then increasingly furious at the New York Times' coverage of the death of Lia Smith. Here's a thread sharing some trily despicable choices made by @julietmacur.bsky.social in writing about this young woman's suicide.

Watching videos of these shootings, I'm struck by how they mirror the kind of gunfire that's common in cop shows--with officers firing recklessly at suspects' cars.

Which I think speaks to both ICE's lack of training and the way cop-aganda media can erode our ability to see each others' humanity.
“.. In the last four months alone, immigration officers have fired on at least nine people in five states and Washington, D.C. All of the individuals targeted in those shootings were, like the woman killed on Wednesday, fired on while in their vehicles.”

Ryan Reynolds had to come back and make three whole Deadpool movies just to make up for the damage they did in Origins

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.

one of the things i hate most about this persistent line of argument is the implication that any of these actions would be fine if groceries were cheaper
The White House is laser focused on threatening a military takeover of Greenland.

Where’s the same focus on lowering costs?

They get to “fear for their lives” and defend themselves. The public cannot. Police have a monopoly on violence that’s upheld by the legal system and cultural conditioning that convinces us the police are righteous defenders of the public.
