The main thing that frustrates me about Walz and Frey's calls for "peace" so we don't give the administration an excuse is the administration will clearly take anything as an excuse. There is no level of calm or lawfulness that will prevent them finding an excuse to invoke the Insurrection act.

I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.

Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

At last night’s candlelight vigil for Renee Nicole Good, Bishop Rob Hirschfeld of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire announced he had asked the clergy of the diocese to get their affairs in order and to make sure they have their wills written ...,

Minnesota must indict the ICE agent who murdered Renee Gold.

Force the Trump Regime to do whatever the fuck it is they're going to do in response.

There is no reason to delay over a ballistics report, no reason to "keep your powder dry" when the federal government is murdering your citizens.
Hollywood trained people to think "no FBI cooperation = no case." Wrong. Under the rules of evidence, eyewitness testimony is proof. Video authenticated under oath is proof. Minnesota has both. You don't need a ballistics report when multiple witnesses watched an ICE agent shoot a woman in the face.

Feels to me like the Dept of Agriculture cutting all funding to Minnesota including SNAP “because fuck you that’s why” should be a bigger story!

Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

When Sam Altman & co tell you their models are "trained" on copyrighted material, what they really mean is their models contain copyrighted material in full, and the models are "trained" to *not* reproduce them exactly, to add arbitrary variations, because otherwise they would give away the game.

Just as photocopying a #book has serious #copyright implications, it now appears that #LLM s also copy material learned from.

A good read.

Reform?

The only "reform" I want to see for ICE will need to take place individually and will require an awful lot of wood chippers.

Ok, I couldn't stop thinking about this. Apologies to the literally dozens of people I've lifted from... I want to do a fully credited version, but I'm sitting here sobbing and, well, maybe you'll feel some release, too.

Seeing people centering Renee’s late husband’s *father* and his narrative that devalues her final political actions more than her gender nonconforming wife who was THERE working together with Renee to document ICE makes me want to scream loud enough to break all the glass in all the world.

The more money, resources, and power you give to ICE, the more folks they're going to harm and kill. It's as simple as that.

Let's be serious for a moment: the problem with "defund the police" wasn't that it was a shit slogan. It was because the slogan was deployed in a context of omnipresent white supremacy, and sought to target one of its most effective tools: the police. And it did so through targeting its resources.
Sherrilyn, It was. A slogan has one job and it fucked itself, setting back real reform and driving a wedge between those committed to such and so many potential allies. Bury it. Move on to any number of alts: Police the Police, End The Drug War, Mass Incarceration is a Crime, Demilitarize Policing.

i am absolutely empathetic to a man whose lost his daughter. however, there is at least one other person who is an obvious participant in this child's life. and as a lesbian it is difficult not to consider the underscoring that is suggested here
Renee Nicole Good, the woman shot & killed by an ICE agent, had a young son whose father died in 2023, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune

“There’s nobody else in his life,” the boy’s grandfather told the paper. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come get my grandchild.” www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

The same people who spent yesterday, and the past five years, insisting a Black police officer who shot an insurrectionist breaking into the Capitol should be prosecuted are today bending over backwards to defend an ICE agent who shot a woman in her car in cold blood.

Scum.

Abolishing ICE is not enough. All of DHS needs to be ripped out by the roots. Dissolve CBP and ICE completely, and move TSA, Secret Service, FEMA, and the Coast Guard to other agencies.

This happened less than a mile from where George Floyd was murdered in the street six years ago.

George Floyd's murder led to some of the largest and loudest protests in America since the Civil Rights movement.

If we can summon just a fraction of that anger now, maybe she won't have died in vain.

The ICE murder of Renee Good and the failure of any cessation of the Grok CSAM and nonconsensual image generation are part of the same broader story about the establishment of elite impunity for transgressing all moral boundaries of a humanist civil society with individual rights
