“Iowa City eliminated bus fares in August 2023 with a goal of lowering emissions… The two-year pilot program proved so popular that the City Council voted this summer to extend it another year, paying for it with a 1% increase in utility taxes and by doubling most public parking rates to $2 from $1”

COVID continues
Circulation of COVID variants has created a new year-round baseline for work absences and excess deaths (the level of mortality above what it was before the pandemic) remains significantly elevated). And within these, Long COVID.

Thank you to everyone organizing in Charlotte. As we saw in Chicago, you can send them packing, and we know similar efforts are already underway in Charlotte. In Chicago, neighborhood groups held “Know Your Rights” trainings so residents understood what to do if ICE appeared.

Yes. The original sin wasn’t “antigenic sin.” It was the global disinformation campaign that misled everyone into believing SARS-CoV-2 spread by “droplets” instead of airborne aerosol particles.
That one lie shaped every catastrophic decision that followed. 👇

Learning loss didn’t come from “lockdowns” or remote instruction.
It COMES FROM (still happening) illness.
Illness caused by COVID.
Illness that makes kids miss school and teachers miss teaching.
SICK DAYS. And the vascular damage that causes incapacity to think & retain.
This is still happening.
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

People would go wild if MS or lupus were airborne, but Covid is airborne, and it can reactivate EBV, which is linked to both. It’s biologically plausible that we’re seeing more MS- and lupus-related illness after widespread airborne viruses. So mask up 😷
