Want to be really scared?
Think how badly prepared
we’ll be for
 the next pandemic

Someday, soon I hope, there will be an inflatable frog costume in the Smithsonian.

People are really overreacting to us building the Qataris an air base in Idaho. It’s only there for defensive reasons in case Montana or Wyoming invade them.

Yep—trust nothing, especially if you want it to be true, or are afraid it might be

Our day at Vaughan Mills mall. Peak was over 1400 ppm CO2. Individual stores were the worst—for the most part, the mall was about 900-1000.

I owned a 1990 Daytona Shelby purchased (by my brother) in California. I heard it says that my car could run for a year and produce less pollution than running a lawn mower for an hour. (Not sure if that was true—probably not but it’s true-ISH)

Mind you, the point isn’t that asthmatics are causing pollution, but that there needs to be a different propellant. That should be an easy fix
jonathanconp.bsky.social
This also makes a great argument for controlling pollution! Want to limit the impact of asthma inhalers? STOP POLLUTING SO PEOPLE DON’T GET ASTHMA SO OFTEN
jonathanconp.bsky.social
We insure cars, strictly limit who can drive them, pull licenses as necessary, and work constantly to improve their safety. And there are some cars you can’t buy because they don’t meet government requirements. Other than that, yeah, devastating comeback

People say "if you want to ban guns cos they're dangerous then you should ban cars" to me like that's a gotcha and I won't just agree with them.

I don’t know if this is true. But I want it to be

I knew Fox News was theater. I just didn't realize it was a repertory theater that recycles actors for different roles.

You'd think a company that had to pay $787,000,000 for deceiving its viewers would be a little more careful about blatantly continuing the practice.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Just smiled at a toddler who gave me the biggest grin back.

I’m wearing a mask. She knew I was smiling.

Did people actually believe Trump during his campaign, or did they just love the permission he gave them to be racist?

Trump on loop: “They’re stealing your jobs.”

If that were true, why aren’t Americans lining up to take those so-called “stolen” jobs?

Every Trump voter needs to see this.

I know Trump and his minions all have sneering contempt for kids with special needs, but trust me when I say that their parents will absolutely fucking destroy anyone who messes with the special education supports to which they are entitled by law.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

We have begun the parade of morons trying get on a Dash-8 with luggage that cannot possibly fit, followed by the ritual of whining about having to gate-check bags that never had a chance of qualifying as “carry-on”

Kids are missing school because our inept medical can’t handle measles.

Remember this when they claim they “would have contained covid.

Watching D25 trying on boots:

Me: They don’t have great tread for icy Toronto sidewalks

D25: I don’t know how to tell you but that will not be factoring into this decision at all
jonathanconp.bsky.social
Absolutely—simple solutions are so available. One of the things that surprised me about the response to the pandemic is how fashion, hospitality, education etc failed to support these simple interventions
jonathanconp.bsky.social
Definitely not, but I imagine they do makeovers etc to sell their goods. With this running, it would be much safer to do so!

It’s a cosmetics store—so masks would not be possible for customers, and probably not great marketing for staff. I imagine they’ve gotten sick of being constantly sick! What if every store, clinic, school, daycare, restaurant and bar had these? We’d take a big dent out of ALL infections

Shopping at Vaughan Mills mall, a place notorious for poor air quality in the past. Currently not that bad (900) but check out this amazing bit of kit one store has—an industrial air filter! 1/

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa
