War between imperialist factions, classic ⭐

This same fella also said that Portugal's EU accession 20 yrs before mostly benefitted "the major European capitalist economies"

If your infrastructure is not stuck in the 70s and you don't have the worst welfare indicators in W. Europe, you're a sellout

Roughly 20 years ago I was talking to the assistant of a Portuguese Communist MEP and he told us, very confidently, that the main reason the US entered WW2 was to prevent the USSR from becoming the dominant power in Europe and to stop Europe from going socialist. 🤷‍♂️

I'm listening to this episode and @michaelkofman.bsky.social says at one point that not only 70-80% of casualties are now caused by drones, but also that the killed-wounded ratio went from around 1 to 4 to nearly 1 to 1, which tells a *lot* about the lethality inflicted by drones.

This is an important admission because Article 31.2, which the Commission wants to activate to switch to a qualified majority, can be blocked by any country that alleges "vital and stated reasons of national policy".

Can you think of any?

Valdis Dombrovskis says the €140 billion loan to Ukraine could go ahead without switching sanctions from unanimity to qualified majority voting:

"Certainly, it's helpful to put the sanctions on a safer footing, but I would not see this as an insurmountable obstacle for the Reparations Loan."

The article mentions she sees Japan's imperial era positively & frequently visits Yasukuni shrine: she's a fan of music that was once seen as subversive; she defends people whose morality would prohibit the music she likes.

This is not extraordinary, politicians are riddled with contradictions.

It's 2025 and major Western publications like @economist.com still feel the need to point out that a conservative & regressive nativist politician who enjoys metal music is somehow a funny thing.

Consequence of the merger between Paramount and Skydance: In France, a TV channel dedicated to video games is closing its doors after 27 years, even though it is profitable.

(A channel I used to watch a little bit 20 years ago, because it was the only one that talked about video games.)

Virtua Fighter 2 remains one of my favourite games to this day. I love Soul Calibur and SC 2, no mistake about it, but Virtua Fighter 2 is what really opened my mind to 3D fighting games.
