After a lengthy conversation explaining the concept of the Dramaslop Ecosystem to a friend, I've come to the conclusion that PT Barnum never died— he's just banging a wrench around somewhere inside the algorithms until his ghost can physically manifest and make a Youtube channel called Freak Snark.

D&D benefits heavily from the tacit knowledge provided by a long history and robust community.
Though I love D&D, I think if you handed the books to someone who had never heard of DND/had no ability to access other resources they would find it an experience whose juice is barely worth the squeeze.

I've been doing this in my home games for years, but also I was just saying to a friend that one of the joys of writing a game is that I can put the people I love in it, effectively grandscaling this process and making them a gentle kind of immortal.
