Absolutely chuffed to announce that I have a story in this month's Aurealis magazine!

It's an Australian gothic historical horror that begins with something that has always scared the shit out of me: a knock on the door in the middle of the night.

Common misunderstanding, it actually means sobbing on the beach to Mother because Agamemnon took your stuff in front of all the other boys.

I am one (1) sleeve closer to my second hand-knitted jumper 😮‍💨
A mustard coloured cable knit jumper/swearer is laid out on a dark red footstool. It has one sleeve.

You know that was exactly the directive some exec gave to try to get the kids back into TV.

I escaped into the search bar after about ten seconds after it updated.

I complained about it in my discord and some other people had gotten it too, so it wasn’t even a blip!

I attempted the first two episodes of Succession and I fear I am not Prestige enough for this.

Hey @netflix.com, perhaps reconsider having anyone's homepage autoplay promo be a clip of "Ed Gain" wearing someone's face.

This is why I've really stopped watching short-form video content in the past few months. I find myself studying every video for tells. Feels like I'm losing my damn mind.

I finished The AI Con by Emily M Bender and Alex Hanna today, and this is the passive aggressive Christmas gift of 2025, folks. But also, it’s short and actually a really great intro to how LLM’s actually work and why they’re both an ethical nightmare on every level and a giant fucking scam.

It is really, really, really stunning to me how the first part in particular has already become so incredibly noticeable.

In the climate space alone I am spending more of my precious remaining life hours convincing ppl that the output of a word generating program is not the default truth......

i’ve been trying to think of the real actual applications of generative ai in it’s current state and the two things i have so far is it makes everyone more dumb and also every more paranoid

I need everyone to know that if I ever compare you to Miss Piggy in aesthetic and/or spirit, it is the highest compliment I am capable of giving.

I’ve never known any Australian government to show something like an ethical backbone in my lifetime, but watching this one actively crawl inside the sphincter of a US president leading the Western march to fascism is really something.

Kidnapped in international waters, extraordinary rendition to a genocidal state, and then imprisoned indefinitely.

You'd think this would trigger the immediate expulsion of the Israeli Ambassador for these inexcusable actions against an Australian citizen.

“Bring back the editors” has become a recurring chant in the book-focused discord I’m in. A staggering amount of trad pub books have become functionally unreadable in the past few years.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

It took a highly sophisticated Jacquard weave to create the incredibly detailed oranges that form the fabric of of this early 1890s dress. You can almost smell the citrusy peel. There so many details to observe here, the pattern matching, the cuff trim, the drama! #V&A #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 1579: If you’re going to write in any genre (children’s fiction, SFF, romance, etc), you need to read EXTENSIVELY in that genre. You need to read current authors in the genre. You need to know what’s been done; what tropes exist; how the genre has changed.
