Seeing Ms. Rachel say exactly what needs to be said to Obama is so damn refreshing

Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

In der CH sind viele Rangierbahnhöfe statt mit einer Gleisgruppe zum nachsortieren mit einem doppelten Ablaufberg ausgestattet, weil man eher im Simultanverfahren einzelne Gruppen bildet. In Deutschland ist das Nachsortieren im sog. Ordnungsgruppenverfahren (erst nach Zug, dann Gruppe) noch üblich

Nicht in so einer extremen Topologie mit 2 Nebenablaufbergen wie Sentrarand, aber nachsortieren ist in Europa auch sehr üblich, wenn auch nicht mehr so extrem wie frühe. Heute verwendet man dafür halt eher den gut ausgebauten Hauptablaufberg.

My pet peeve is to read or hear people use abbreviations or acronyms so save two dozen signs or seconds of speaking time, but as a consequence gatekeeping the message, making it hard to read or ambiguous. I'm considering to write my whole thesis without any content abbreviation because of this…
