btw, my pinned post is now an introduction to this ARG or open source techno religion or conspiracy theory or sci-fantasy series I'm working on, whatever the heck this is.

Be good, fellow elves...

You're Princes of the Universe made of Light, and don't let any earthbound ape tell you otherwise.
Guys, here's the truly magic thing about what I'm putting together here.... imagine for a second that the authorities needed to crack down on what appears to be an invasion of horny space elves who claim to be hidden throughout human civilization.

God, that's a 1000x funnier than antifa.
I have a different sort of overconfidence, born from a different place. I know I make mistakes. I know I hurt people. I see them, see when people point them out, and see others that no one else even catches. My overconfidence comes from the fact that I work my ass off to fix them.

A different angle on the last few days of my silly life: at the start of the morning, I saw my 80 year old mother, who is not very steady on her feet, stumble backwards and barely catch herself. When I expressed concern, I was told that it's okay if she stumbles because she always catches herself.

I'm getting ads for kids books that are purest evil, teaching them all the goods of capitalism, the free market, and why all politicians are so dumb, dumb, dumb. One of the perks they advertise is also sending copies of their kids books to your dumb politicians for free.

You artists. If any of you has something they would love to see as a feature in a helper app for artists, let me know.
For those that don't know yet. I'm building an app for artists, like myself, to do all sorts of things for reference and color study. I'm still early building all kind of different tools.

No matter what you may think of Tolkien's work or how you try to interpret it, he was crystal clear about who the heroes are— they're the ones who care for one another and can throw the ring in the volcano.

At some size, a pile of money is probably best understood as an entity of its own, with needs and desires that preserve and grow the pile. Those are its prime directives, and the individual humans and their designs become less significant. imo

And we're the people to do it! Capitalism is horny to replace the humans in human civilization, and then they won't have any need for the rest of us anymore.

Who are we? We're workers. They're the other guys who don't work and just tell workers what to do.

Who wins?
Capitalism MUST be surpassed! Yesterday!

Evil is so endemic that when one tries to do good, others wonder if you've contracted a mental illness.

The way people talk about black holes is just so inconsistent. One communicator will say, "A black hole is an object so massive it can bend light!" and another will talk about black holes the mass of asteroids. So, "black hole" appears to be a density state, right, not a particularly huge mass.

I'm an inveterate meddler. Or is that invertebrate? Naw, I feel spiny.

Here's the experiment I was considering: placing a laser aimed at a far reflector (at least a few miles) and a nearby detector. Masses would be placed very near the head of the laser, and curvature is measured at the detection end.

Hmmm. Earlier tonight, I was listening to a description of the Casimir effect, and I'm just kinda wondering why this doesn't come up more often (considering its apparent strength) and why its function and gravity aren't popularly connected.

To make my night perfect, I seem to have gotten exposure from something I ate, so my skin is freaking out. I think it's the store brand peanut butter, but I can't be sure. Yay.

I couldn't get that version to work, though I think it's possible. There's a bunch of weird ways you can compute one vector operation with a modified version of another.

Alright, I started building another gravity sim using Newton's law of universal gravitation, but we know that to be wrong, right? Because it's applying as a force, when we should be warping the coordinate space. So, my sim should alter velocity toward the source of gravitation.

Hmmm. I happen to believe that if the Earth were sucked down into a black hole, it'd actually get smaller and remain functional. I think the gravitational context causes things to exist on a smaller scale. Oooh, a lot of energy, though. But it'd move at such a slow rate due to general relativity...

Books are like the one piece of media left where you can actually vote with your dollar
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
