England may have sold it's water to foreign billionaires. Scottish water is still state owned (and doing much better).

@dieworkwear.bsky.social I don't know if you are able to watch the drama series Vienna Blood? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_... I have just finished and the clothes are absolutely gorgeous. It is set in the early 1900s and the male lead is very stylish.

Well, indeed.
“The Social Democrats have shifted rightward politically..This was a cynical strategic manoeuvre to avoid losing voters to the far right, but it seems, based on polling, that all they have done is prime their own voters to join the far right rather than stay with the Social Democrats.”

A detailed examination of how weak the new Land Reform Bill is likely to be in practice.

The only thing I'd add is that if Scotland had implemented @thecommonweal.bsky.social's Property Tax, this is estate could owe a little under £159,000 per year for its land.

Intrigued that the Labour Party has a Denmark policy - seize jewellery and assets from asylum seekers - and also an anti-Denmark policy - don’t tax middle earners enough to support welfare state.

The government won’t achieve ‘decency’ over ‘division’ by trying to be Reform Lite and please remember this - the ECHR is much more than a treaty. It’s a quiet promise - a shield against abuse of power, a lifeline for the vulnerable, a declaration of who we are as a nation
Labour’s plan risks weakening protections for all of us. Human rights are universal - politicians may not always find them politically convenient but it shouldn’t fall to any government to say who those rights should and should not apply to. It’s a slippery slope to oblivion youtu.be/bl0Lm7v_T18?...

Come on ScotGov, this is unforgivable - and stupid! Funding for paths, etc, has always been part of the agricultural funding farmers could bid for, since 2005. It’s a tiny proportion of the overall farming budget. If land managers can’t get £££, why should they pay for this public good themselves? 😡
Quality trails = more healthy, happy walking people. 🚶

So we're shocked to learn that ScotGov’s post-Brexit farm subsidy system will fail to replace lost funding for paths and access. ➡️ www.ramblers.org.uk/post-brexit-...

Scotland will be left with the worst funding for outdoor access in Britain.🤦🏻‍♀️

Leaving those who flee persecution or their kids in limbo- either when making a claim or when they try to rebuild lives- is not just cruel. It’s counterproductive to integration & costly to all.

Asylum reform needs to be both effective & ethical. And those of us not frightened to fight for it.
