I often feel so bad for Americans.

Of all the ways German incorporates English words badly, I hate the most how the term photo shoot has become ein Shooting in German.
"Mein Shooting ist morgen."
And they then send that back to English: "My shooting yesterday went great! Thanks to the photographer!"
It just looks SO wrong.

It's been 17 years since I worked for a studio in (North) Hollywood and still when I saw the news about Paramount bidding on WB I just couldn't fathom the crossovers of all the IP together.

For as badly as they want naturalism in every genre of entertainment, no matter how wildly inappropriate it is for the piece, they can't grasp that sentient computers, planetary colonies, and FTL travel are plot devices, not aspirational technological advances.
We need to reckon with the fact that there are engineering challenges that simply cannot be overcome by throwing money at the problem. There are some limits on material reality you just need to accept ambition can’t conquer, but rich people want so badly for wealth to mean that there are no limits.
