This really needs to be said and understood. What makes it worse, if possible, is that it is not coming out of any genuine crisis or emergency. It is a deliberate attempt to whip up anger and grievance in order to capitalise upon it & in Jenrick's case purely to advance his leadership ambitions.

I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.
Screenshot of an Express article; it says: Robert Jenrick lists 30 'activist judges' he vows to axe in war on UK's open border

In a bold move, Robert Jenrick is set to unveil a controversial plan targeting what he calls 'activist' judges, at the Conservative Party conference.

I can accept the calibre if it can be worked into an EM2…

Lefties can be accommodated in God’s Chosen Configuration and it was downright public school establishment not to do it in the SA80.

People bleat about the trigger but it was good for a battle rifle, TBH. That said, never tried an AR

The first time in 40 years British defence procurement made sense.

However I sense there may be an end to the bullpup era afoot. Shenanigans be damned- give me back my stumpy heavy problem child!

I’d love @ledbydonkeys.org to do a version of this about the English feudal system, which gave us austerity, and it’s bastard child, Brexit

Brit here. He was awesome during Brexit- you’re lucky to have him (plus obviously as a sane country you voted correctly). We would benefit from this kind of LEADERSHIP

"the number of the stars in the whole of the two million nebulae is such that if stars were grains of sand, the grains would cover the whole of England hundreds of yards deep. Our earth is one millionth part of one such grain, and we bother ourselves over questions of social rank"

Freedom is just another name for “a gap in the law”.

Home Secretary tells Sky News that “there is a gap in the law” when it comes to frequent, repeated protests on the same issue. Hence she will be giving police greater powers to move them to another location or time.

And guess what else? You know those digital IDs that Blair - & now suddenly Starmer - are so keen on?

Guess where that data looks like it will end up?

In a £5bn ‘sovereign AI cloud’ that UK govt has signed deal for with…yes, you guessed it!

When I was a teenager there was a bus direct from my hometown in Germany to London - we had a British army base, and this direct bus connection was one of the benefits of that. One summer I went on that bus to go volunteer in an old people's home in Southend-on-Sea. I had just turned 18 and was... 🧵

I have every expectation, and I am not saying this lightly at all, that we will be looking at migrants being shot at borders within a decade.

So I consider it *existential* that we find a better response to migration increases as migration can only go up as an essential human need.

This is a fundamental point that 99% of higher-ed coverage, and 100% of immig coverage, have missed.

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

This is amazing. I was in Moldova last year, and saw all the corrupt money Putin was pouring into that country trying to buy the vote. If Moldova stands against this, Europe and democracy wins

I just got indefinite leave to remain 2 years ago, so I'm reading this like, I don't even know what the fuck this means. We pay taxes, we pay TWICE for the NHS, we pay an exorbitant fee for visas to reach ILR, our income is constantly scrutinised. How the fuck more are people supposed to contribute?
danielsohege.bsky.social
Dehumanisation as policy.
It ignores people's actual lives and experiences in favour of some sick idea that migrants are just resources to be used and discarded at will.
It is incredible how Labour has become, in practice, the most anti-immigration government in decades.

Shabana Mahmood vows law reforms to prove migrants 'contribute' to UK society
The home secretary signalled in her first major interview since taking over the reins that she believed migration "has been too high".
