Film worker.

If you are in southern California, I'll PA your film. DM for resume and contact info.

This account mostly posts transit info about the Los Angeles area, and also very dumb jokes.

Got added to a starter pack so my follower count jumped

Hello! The starter pack was about cargo bikes! I have a cargo bike!

When not making bad jokes on the Internet, I post about bike lanes & transit in LA, and about transit in the US generally

Also movies but those are long posts and I'm lazy
Ok one hand, this is bad on many levels.

On the other hand, I know Disney is getting equity in this deal but Disney giving cash to OpenAI is the loudest "OpenAI cannot stop burning capital" klaxon I've heard in a while.
Disney is making a $1 billion investment in OpenAI. WSJ says "the three-year licensing deal will let users generate videos using Sora, OpenAI’s short-form AI video platform, of more than 200 Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar characters."

Of all the things which surprised me most about urban and transportation policy in NYC, it's "the city with incredibly expensive land and cartoonishly easy car-free living somehow doesn't charge to park cars on city curbs"

3 million curb parking spots and only 80,000 are metered? What? What?

EVs vs LLMs is my go-to stark comparison of "a better technology wins" vs "a very impressive technology that doesn't make anything actually better will not do anything"

(also, adoption is always much stickier when there's hardware involved)
but as with power generation, a clearly better technology wins. you can speed that up a bit or slow it down a bit at the margin with legislation but really the tech and the market are what’s driving.

Well would you look at that, it's unhinged conference o'clock already
#TN07 reminder, from @politico.com today:

> “If our victory margin is single digits, the conference may come unhinged,” one senior House Republican said. A loss would be catastrophic and the conference would “explode,” the Republican added.

"We won't do it b/c Republicans leadership in the House won't allow it" is a shit excuse when both House and Senate GOP committee chairs on military oversight are announcing investigations, weeks after the Epstein discharge petition passed.

You're allowed to fight Mike Johnson! He loses constantly!
Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

Is DIE HARD a Christmas movie? Skill issue. Every movie is a Christmas movie. TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY has a Christmas party. Seasons are different in the southern hemisphere, PREDATOR is a Christmas movie. You can't prove STAR TREK isn't a Christmas movie, you don't know how star dates work.

Aside from having zero sympathy for Speaker Johnson as an odious and craven politician, it also appears he's just mechanically bad at his job?

HLA street upgrades (like bike lanes, cross walks, and also bus lanes) don't trigger on "restriping" (repainting) but LA Board of Public Works says restriping includes the striping of *new* lane configurations.

Including bus lanes.

So things *IN* Measure HLA aren't enough to trigger HLA upgrades?

CSU San Bernardino is phenomenal and I'm incredibly grateful to have attended and graduated.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.

Many excellent choices in the replies and quote skeets but none with what is the ultimate choice (The Muppets)
Yes yes, Nosferatu (2024), Frankenstein (2025), Werwulf in 2026

but now we need an Abbott and Costello equivalent to meet them all in 2027

Another piece of evidence for "neither Trump individually, nor the federal government at large, have the popularity to ignore the courts"
In ICE masking news: The federal government has sued California to prevent enforcement of the state's "No Secret Police Act," which bans federal law and immigration enforcement officials from wearing masks on duty in most circumstances.

One of the things which can make certain mysteries and political/legal thrillers interesting is that their genre's definition of "dumb" is just "less smart than the investigator"
Think about the movies you like, they almost certainly hinge on a dumb guy who thinks he’s smart

looks like they're not just forming words

seems like those words have definitions, and they're at risk of unionizing and forming sentences with imbued meaning

Need a tiny car? Get a bmw isetta. You can fit all your groceries in it! Or a passenger, perhaps, instead! You will certainly not regret getting a bmw isetta.

A film series that switches to George Lazenby for one movie, switches BACK to Sean Connery for one movie before landing on Roger Moore is now worried about the character dying.

Film universes are a blight, film canons are a curse, continuity is its harbinger, and we are all poorer for its presence
My last word on the matter
