took this pic on a local walk and it looked so painterly for some reason, I thought I would try it in black and white. It is a scene across farmers fields towards a small hamlet (my hamlet :) ) where a cluster of houses sit amounts trees and hedgerow. Beyond the hamlet further fields lead the eye to a small hillock and above that fluffy clouds hang overhead

My #Spotted #BirdOfTheDay is the Spotted Sandpiper (Actitis macularius), one of the most common sandpipers in North America. This one legged sandpiper was a common sight along our local river last year.

When I saw that today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #spotted I searched my files for my photo shoot with this cooperative northern flicker. It was resting on the ground and soon flew away. #birds #EastCoastKin
