Wonder which friend of his got the oversized novelty sign contract. Absolute clown.
NEW: Doug Ford promised giant signs to replace speed cameras in school zones. Well, they've arrived and... they're huge. So big they don't fit onto existing poles.

Cities say they're too big, the province says they were briefed weeks ago. #Onpoli

I usually speed when I’m driving but that’s because all the speed limit signs around here are just normal-sized signs and I don’t think they’re serious signs but once Doug Ford spends millions putting up bigger speed limit signs I will definitely not be speeding anymore because then it’s serious.

Not only did Ontarians foot the bill for removing speed cameras (which happen to have been effective and revenue-generating) we’re now being forced to pay for giant oversized “don’t speed” signs and… (checks notes)… bigger poles.

Another one of Ford’s fiscal failures.

Just a solid plan right here. Drivers complain that they never saw the sign that simply said there was a speed camera ahead, so the solution is to post these signs with about 4 signs worth of information. Yes, I'm sure that will work very well. www.ctvnews.ca/ottawa/artic...

(Electrification), interconnection and upgrading of our grid systems is the smart path forward. Fossil fuels will soon be rapidly declining and pipe lines are pipe dreams of a bygone era. Maximize the capacity of existing under-utilized pipelines.
We are losing so much time fighting fights that should have been put to bed years ago.

People claiming this exemption should have to show where in their religious texts it's stated that vaccines are forbidden.
A West Virginia judge has ruled that the state’s school vaccine law should allow exemptions for people with religious objections. Exemptions to the state’s vaccine requirement have been granted only for medical reasons, and for decades the state has had one of the highest vaccination rates.

Here's a very short thread on SecondStreet.

This is an investigative journalism story waiting to happen. Who is behind SecondStreet? Why did all the money start flowing in at once? Who's funding it? How much is US healthcare profiteers wanting access to the Canadian market?
It's important to understand that SecondStreet, the organization behind this report, is a dark money think tank.

SecondStreet's donations:

2021: $254,505
2022: $620,438
2024: $1,045,000

SecondStreet's donations rocketed into the stratosphere right when talk of healthcare privatization took off.
More than 74,000 Canadians have died on health-care wait lists since 2018 nationalpost.com/news/canada/...

@mehlerpaperny.bsky.social Hello, I think you were interested in hearing ideas for investigative journalism. Here's one: Who is the dark money behind this group working to open up our public healthcare system to more privatization?
I have posted about this for several years, on old Twitter and here too.

Reminder that when you see any media coverage like this, on healthcare wait lists, look for the name SecondStreet. And understand what SecondStreet is and what it's trying to do on behalf of dark money.

See my next post...
“Ontario recorded the highest number of wait-list deaths: 10,634, including more than 9,100 diagnostic-scan deaths where patients died before reaching the point of receiving or being scheduled for surgery.”

BUT will this stop closing Beer Stores? (300 could have closed Jan 1).

Agreement says will ensure there is a recycling location available within 10 km FOR THE VAST MAJORITY (me: not all).

Once on Twitter when I was complaining about something in Toronto (my, er, job) Gerson said something like "Just move away". Which I thought was funny coming from somebody who started a website that publishes considerable grievance towards how Canada is run.

"Just move" indeed.
