I write luminous science fiction and fantasy. When not writing, I watch birds, admire lichens, and play the accordion. In my writing I like to explore the boundaries of time, monsters and myth, and the concept of cats.

I see some copies of Gargantua 👀 It has my short story "The End of Night on Second-Day" in it!

Hester Cross, the last of a dead family line, resolves to liberate the sun from the thieves who stole it and to live one moment in the sunlight.

If you're in Pittsburgh stop by and pick up a copy!
All set up at Phantom of the Attic Comics on S. Craig St. in Pittsburgh. Stop by 12-5.

Probably my biggest pet peeve about listening to audiobooks is how some men do awful falsettos for the women characters. She simply does not sound breathy and mincing like that. Do a normal voice!

MS Word's autocorrect feature sucks so bad now. It keeps recommending me complete nonsense sentence structures. I typed the phrase "white knuckling my steering wheel" and it suggested I change it to "knuckling my steering wheel white." That's nothing. That's a nothing phrase.

This week I've been working on closing tabs that I've had open literally all year.

So! Finally read "The Wretched of Middle-Earth: An Orkish Manifesto" by Charles W. Mills

"The reality is that Tolkien is re-fighting not World War II but the Crusades." (p. 14) is an outlook-altering sentence.

A stellar cartographer finds her efforts at mapping the stars and the space between them stymied by a mythical alien beast that lives in those very spaces between.
The new issue of #Solstitia is out today, with short stories, art, and poetry focusing on the theme of “dragon hoards”

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.

Idk if it’s just my eyes continue to deteriorate year after year, or if after a long break I can’t parse game visuals anymore, or if there’s something up w/ the graphics, but anything happening on screen in Dragons Dogma 2 is almost completely illegible to me. is That a goblin or a bush or a shadow?

Really really loved Marie Vibbert's "At the Library of Teeth" in @nightshadesmag.bsky.social. Incredible story about leaving childhood and the voids left behind.
