I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

What we do know is that the plaintiff can refile in NZ at her discretion. This doesn't mean that anyone found her claims unsubstantiated or that Gaiman successfully introduced any doubt into the proceedings; it just means that somebody made a really bad choice of fillings.

OK, ok, I need to stop being coy and self-effacing. I am DELIGHTED that my work in making lesbian history accessible for authors of historical fiction is being recognized in books that used my work. My ultimate goal is to never again hear an author of a sapphic historical say "There's no sources."

in Iron Widow and Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao, a tech dystopia with mecha battles against alien invaders, the MC figures out that tech is for surveillance and control by the ruling class and plots a revolution. There's still a lot of tech but in a horrifying way?
